Aisha Tyler (Ghost Whisperer) has joined the cast of the independent film Black Water Transit, according to Variety.

The movie, set in post-Katrina New Orleans, centers on a man trying to free his junkie son from prison. Tyler plays a police detective. Laurence Fishburne and Karl Urban star in the film, directed by Tony Kaye.

Tyler's credits include The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause and CSI. She'll next be seen in Balls of Fury.

Black Water Transit was released in 2009 and stars Karl Urban, Brittany Snow, Aisha Tyler, Alex Sol, Beverly D'Angelo, Bill Cobbs, Evan Ross, Leslie Easterbrook. The film is directed by Tony Kaye.
