Aaron Paul and Mary Elizabeth Winstead joins the cast of Smashed
The project centers on a married couple (Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Aaron Paul) who can only find a connection through alcohol. Their marriage takes an unusual turn when the wife decides to get sober. Octavia Spencer will play the wife's best friend and sponsor, while Nick Offerman will portray the principal of the elementary school where she teaches.
James Ponsoldt is directing Smashed from a screenplay he co-wrote with Susan Burke. The movie is said to be a loose interpretation of the 1962 Blake Edwards drama Days of Wine and Roses.
Production is scheduled to start in November.

@dan1 They have to nail that aspect or the movie will fall apart.

@skywise@bawnian-dexeus The Thing looks pretty intense. If they really play up the "f*ck you, I know you're an alien, son of a bitch!" thing well, it'll be great.

@bawnian-dexeus I first notied her in Final Destination 3 and thought she gave a very grounded performance in an otherwise outlandish movie. Pretty much fell in love on the spot.
the Thing prequel could be the make or break moment of her career. It will probably succeed in the numbers department and that is all hollywood really needs but if she blows it...well i will always have those modeling pics...

@skywise You know, I never found her appealing when I saw her in Sky High, but after seeing her modeling pictures a spinet from another film, she was mighty fine. Her'es to hoping he role in the Thing prequel isn't wasted
