"He's dead," Eckhart said before the question was even finished. Eckhart also mentioned that he asked that very same question to director Christopher Nolan while filming The Dark Knight.
"I asked Chris if there was a chance of coming back. 'No way,' he said. 'He's toast.'"
The Dark Knight is still tearing through the theaters and has grossed a massive $505.4 million domesitcally, so far.
The Dark Knight was released July 18th, 2008 and stars Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Michael Caine, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Monique Gabriela Curnen. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.

you just cannot recast heath ledgers memorial appearance as joker. u wouldn't do his successor any favour...i loved aaron eckhart as two face but it is also obvious that he could not come back. it would not make any sense...

Also, I agree, no Franco. Don't replace Heath at all! That's my view. I think it's insulting to Heath's memory to recast him for a sequel to "The Dark Knight."

Why shouldn't Two-Face be dead, erncrazy? You want Nolan to break the realism of his series? He couldn't possibly have survived that fall, he didn't have any armor like Batman does when he falls from that high, and Two-Face doesn't have any "Special Powers," so that's out. It's the only logical thing to do, to have Two-Face dead. It keeps the realism of the series, and at least he did a good job with the character!

franco wouldnt work.he's already got is thing with the spiderman movies.putting him in batman would be weird.and also,i think it would be to big of a role for him.....although not alot of people though heath could pull off the joker, but he more than pull it off....it would be interesting to see franco in the role.

vamp, those two would be great first choices IF they decide to re-cast.don't judge by just hearing the names.picture both those actors in your head with the make-up on and in the role and everything.they are both VERY good actors.better than heath ever was before TDK.i will say that sean penn would be the lesser choice of the two.but del toro would be DAMN close to heath in my opinion.and it's not like im looking for them to bring back the joker in a major role.maybe just a couple scenes to wrap things up on his end.del toro wold do well as a stand-in of sorts.and, cryptkeeper, did you just say the movie wasn't all that great!?!?!were you awake in the theater?it's without a doubt the best batman movie ever, best superhero movie ever, and one of the greatest crime-dramas of the last 10 years at least.

I don't care. His character seemed pointless to me. The movie wasn't all that great either. It was ok... I guess.

although DEL TORO would do it more darker. not as dark as ledger's,but dark enough.

im just throwing this out there.if they decide to replace the joker, which they shouldn't,but if they do decide to do that,i think benicio del toro would be a great choice.or maybe even sean penn.
