Aardman Features is hard at work on two brand new animated projects, which will be distributed through Sony Pictures. According to Variety, the first film will be the CGI animated Arthur Christmas, and the second film will be the stop-motion Pirates!, based on Gideon Defoe's popular book The Pirates! (in an Adventure with Scientists).

Pirates! follows the adventures of a cheerful band of hapless pirates who attempt to win the Pirate of the Year trophy. Peter Lord will be directing the project from a script written by creator Defoe and Jeff Newitt. Arthur Christmas does not yet have a story synopsis, but it will be directed by Sarah Smith and Barry Cook from a screenplay by Smith and Peter Baynham.

Neither film has a set release date at this time.
