A Nightmare on Elm Street Gets 2010 Release Date

Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema recently announced that April 16, 2010 will be the release date for A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Warner Bros.' New Line Cinema have hired veteran screenwriter Wesley Strick to pen the relaunch of the A Nightmare on Elm Street series.

The original Nightmare was written and directed by Wes Craven and released in 1984. The new project will keep the high school setting and delve deeper in the psychology of nightmares and Freddy Krueger himself.

In addition to this, the studios have decided that August 21st will be the day that Final Destination: Death Trip 3D hits theaters.

On what should have been a fun-filled day at the races, Nick O'Bannon has a horrific premonition in which a bizarre sequence of events causes multiple race cars to crash, sending flaming debris into the stands, brutally killing his friends and causing the upper deck of the stands to collapse on him. When he comes out of this grisly nightmare Nick panics, persuading his girlfriend, Lori, and their friends, Janet and Hunt, to leave... escaping seconds before Nick's frightening vision becomes a terrible reality. Thinking they've cheated death, the group has a new lease on life, but unfortunately for Nick and Lori, it is only the beginning. As his premonitions continue and the crash survivors begin to die one-by-one--in increasingly gruesome ways--Nick must figure out how to cheat death once and for all before he, too, reaches his final destination.

The film marks the latest in the highly popular Final Destination series, and its first 3D installment, giving horror fans an especially visceral thrill ride.

A Nightmare on Elm Street was released April 30th, 2010 and stars Jackie Earle Haley, Kyle Gallner, Rooney Mara, Katie Cassidy, Thomas Dekker, Kellan Lutz, Clancy Brown, Connie Britton. The film is directed by Samuel Bayer.

The Final Destination was released August 28th, 2009 and stars Bobby Campo, Shantel VanSanten, Nick Zano, Haley Webb, Mykelti Williamson, Krista Allen, Andrew Fiscella, Justin Welborn. The film is directed by David R. Ellis.

the first 2 FD were alright, nothing special. Im interested to see how a new Elm street will turn out, just because I dont think it will work without Robert Englund, so Im excited to see if they prove me wrong
