A Good Day to Die Hard will have less humor says director John Moore
"No, because that's preposterous! I don't know whether it's post-financial crash or whatever, but I don't think people are in the mood for that bollocks anymore. People are well savvy to the cynical reheating of any product, any franchise. Any shit won't do. The bar's a bit higher. There are a couple of great gags and a couple of great McClanisms. It's not like he's this idiot, bumbling around Moscow making 'America won the Cold War' jokes. It's not Carry On Die Hard, I can assure you."
The filmmaker also teased an epic car chase scene through Moscow, a sequence that is taking up a great deal of their production schedule.
"The scope along goes from New York to Moscow. It's very, very international. There's a car chase through Moscow that's taking us 78 days to shoot. So, yeah. That should answer your question!"
A Good Day to Die Hard was released February 14th, 2013 and stars Bruce Willis, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jai Courtney, Yuliya Snigir, Patrick Stewart, Megalyn Echikunwoke, Cole Hauser, Anne Vyalitsyna. The film is directed by John Moore.

I'm suprised they couldn't get a better action director than John Moore. His resume is far from stellar. Actually, his resume is pretty crappy with his last big film being the abomination called Max Payne.

@moviewiz001 What was weird about that is that you can get two F-words with a PG13 rating, so they didn't even need to use that little bit of audio censorship. But, it was still a minor annoyance in a movie I otherwise loved. Hopefully this one is good too.

Did John McClane ever make an "America won the Cold War" joke?

This John Moore guy better not eff this up. Not only was it a bad choice to have him direct to begin with, but now he's openly admitting to taking the heart of the franchise out of the movie. The whole idea of John McClane is to wise crack through tense situations.
I'm glad its gonna be R-rated this time around, but that doesn't give this less-than-mediocre director to do whatever he wants with the character

This is not Jason Bourne....who has pretty much no sense of humor what-so-ever. Part of what made the original Die Hard so memorable was McClane's wit and sarcasm which were essentially his way of dealing with a REALLY bad situation.

HUGE fan of the first three. Four was good, but not as good story wise as the others. But with this one, not even being in the US, kinda makes the story seam less a real option for this character. Its hard to screw up a Die Hard movie. John McClane fights off some major team of "terrorists", all while dropping one liners in a sarcastic tone. Did I mention they happen on US soil? Any way, Willis is in it, reprising his role, so this may be a watcher, if the trailer shows the right stuff.

@slysnide Or maybe the director doesn't know how to make a movie if his life depended on it. Case in point, Max Payne.

Damn, 78 days for one car chase. Must be pretty epic.
@zender: Agreed all the way. It aint "Die Hard" without the classic humor.

Mutant
No humor then it's not a Die Hard film, it's not Yippy Kay Ya 'Bang'
then don't bother making it.
Die Hard isn't just about the action, where's the fun, the humor, and we have to hear his catch phrase all the way through.
He's dirty, mad, alone and has a headache, without the humor then he's taking away the human side to John.

Dark-White-Knight
This guy is a terrible director based on his previous work, he better not mess this up....the last Die Hard set the bar high since the first original Die Hard.
