MTV Movie Blogs recently caught up with George Lucas at the press day for
Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and they of course asked him about the proposed
Indiana Jones 5 sequel, which was originally supposed to center around Shia LaBeouf's Mutt Williams character.
As of this moment, the famed director is thinking in another direction. It seems that Mutt won't be the central focus of a fifth film at all, and he might not even return for a cameo in the proposed film. Lucas told
MTV Movie Blogs, "Indiana Jones is Indiana Jones. Harrison Ford IS Indiana Jones. If it was Mutt Williams it would be 'Mutt Williams and the Search for Elvis' or something."
About the next installment, Lucas would only say, "We ARE looking for something for him to go after. They are very hard to find. It's like archeology. It takes a huge amount of research to come up with something that will fit."
At this time,
Indiana Jones Part 5 is merely an idea swimming around inside George Lucas' head. There is no telling if it will ever come to fruition.

Indiana jones rocks, i'm just sayin i dont think that guy could carry harrisons shoes.
indy rocks
(which I didn't have) and therefore, it was cool. A bit corny, and the aliens wee too far fetched. Just lighten up on the cheesiness, keep Ford, and go back to Christianity adventures, involve his family, get a new girl in there, not necessarily a gf, just a girl. If they do this with the next one, and make it within three years, then it will be kick ass! I mean It may be a bit selfish, but the Indi series is like one of the best original franchises of their day, and he should go out with a bang.
Like I said before... Harrison IS Indiana Jones. I just think that eventually trying a new actor is not as bad as you all make it out. Just my opinion. (shrugging my shoulders)
All I'm saying is if they need a younger actor to take the Indy franchise forward, they really need to get it spot on. Even with Ford, Indy 4 faced a negative backlash from many fans, but I don't think it's killed the series. I think another below par film with an unknown actor would definitely kill it off.
I personally like the character Indiana Jones and we, as an audience, need to realize that one actor can't alway play that role (due to the aging process haha) even though he or she perfected it. Harrison Ford IS Indiana Jones just as much as Sean Connery IS James Bond (to many), but that didn't stop the character from flourishing. There's been 22 James Bond movies.
Indiana Jones is iconic just like James Bond. I think it can continue flourishing with other actors as long as the stories are done properly and they cast a decent Indiana Jones.
