Jeepers Creepers III: Cathedral Gets Started

Source:  Fangoria
Movie PictureIt seems we're all in store for a new dose of the Creeper in the near future. Fangoria recently talked to writer/director Victor Salva about the upcoming Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral and confirmed the new title of the film as well.

"The script, now titled Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral, is about to enter preproduction at MGM and does include a prologue in the Old West where we see how the Creeper became a frightening part of cowboy and Native American folklore," Salva said.

"I will say," Salva added, "that one aspect of the third film features Trish Jenner (Gina Philips from the original film), who, 23 years later, has a teenage son of her own, named Darry after her long lost brother. Trish is having a terrible recurring dream where her son meets the same terrible fate as her brother. Now a rich and powerful woman, Trish is determined to stop the Creeper once and for all."

While Salva wouldn't reveal anything about the film's title, he said that, "it is a large part of the film created especially for all our loyal Jeepers Creepers fans. The new Jeepers-Jeepers Threepers as we affectionately refer to it around here-brings back all the classic ideas of the first film, but brings them horrifyingly full circle. It also revisits characters from both films [Ray Wise from II returns, as does Creeper actor Jonathan Breck], lets us learn more about what the Creeper is and, by popular demand, reintroduces the infamous Creeper truck."

It is unclear when the film will start production or if a release date has been set yet. We'll be sure to update you on this new film as more information arises.

hey np it what i do. im not here to make waves just throw out my opinions and movies and such. I will say this does seem to be more of a popular horror film. But like i was sayin it just gets tiresom seein sequals to the same movies and the quality decreasing every time. And true/good point with every genre has their flops. Good thing they keep those sequals to a minimum.

I think that the truck should have a different style. And the ax the creeper has should make a reappearence, in a different style to.

And I thank you Uno for not being abusive when I opposed your view. It makes a refreshing change when people can disagree without insults flying.

Of course there's some bad horror movies, some are horrors for the wrong reasons. However, EVERY genre has it's flops. If this series was so bad, and not making money, then there wouldn't be a 3rd. There's been nearly 100 posts on this thread, and most are positive, so I think this should do well. It ain't gonna be a blockbuster, but I reckon it'll just be as far from being a flop too.

Thats the only part I dislike, not hate, dislike, every 23rd spring... otherwise these movies are pretty good. The first is the best to me...

I got to admit, the horror movies with a character who wants to stop the thing or whatever it is that is killing people for good, are my favorite horror movies, because for one, if it is like a second or third part in one whole movie franchise, it puts a end to the sequal.
Take Jeeper Creeper 2 for example, it may not have ended the franchise, but Ray Wise was a character that wanted to put a end to the Creeper, and there was plenty of scary stuff in the movie. and at the end of the movie it left us a little cliff hanger.

All i'm saying is that those are my favorite kind of horor films, with a character who wants to stop the thing or whatever it is that is killing people for good. So this probally why i'm going to like this one better than the other 2. Hope this movie gives us answer, about what the creeper is, where its from, maybe even why it only hunts for 23days, for every 23rd spring.

I agree with lazyboy... I personally enjoy scary movies that are actually scary. I hate sequels to scary movies. The original Freddy Krueger was great, Friday The 13th was awesome, Halloween the original, the first Scream was great, everything else is just plain stupid. Half of the supposed "horror" movies these days contain strong sex, drug use, and bad acting. To be honest the last good horror film I've seen were The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003).

ok hold up...i respect all ur opinions...and yes I don't personally care for scary movies. but counter ur fairly viable arguements, all the sequals with freddy, jason, even the "scary movie" genres get worse every time they make a new one. they end makin less and less money or stay at a relitively small amount. Keep scary movies alive just come up with new and innovative stuff other than the same old shit. And by movie standards they are flops just fyi.

Ok Uno, this series has bombed so badly that they've made a 3rd. That makes sense, not. Who cares about an Oscar winning plot? It may be dumb but at least it's entertaining. I'd rather watch this than an unnecessarily grim true life story any day to be honest. And what about the films that star the horrors RBT has mentioned below. They've not exactly bombed have they. So Uno, think things through before slagging off horror films like that. If you don't like them, then that's your choice, but that's no reason to say they're flops.

Hell yeah about time they made another one, The creeper is one of my favorite Horror icons along with Micheal Myers, Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Charles Lee Ray as CHUCKY, Thomas Hewitt as Leatherface, Pinhead from Hellraiser.

ok lets be realistic no movie of this genre will ever have lots of potential. I think there is a reason most horror flicks bomb at the box office. Mainly because nothing scares us anymore and the plots usually suck ass.

I heard, after the Prologue in the Old West, that the film gonna continue minutes after the end of the second Jeepers Creepers.

I never saw the 2nd film, and thought the first lost its' touch after the first act when the Creeper started to reveal itself more. It had potential, but the creepy aspect of "Jeepers Creepers" was absent after the first half hour or so (see, I just stated the same thing twice, so it must've lost it's creepiness). The still images I first saw made it look creepy as hell though.

The plot of this sounds really cheezy though. The idea of a gung-ho girl on her way to stop the creeper forever!!!!!!! Sounds like a "C" class horror film. lol! But the trailer and official synopsis will determine if this is worth the ticket price though.

"It's so much nicer to see someone get snatched up into the air listening to their screams rapidly fading into the night."

Well while I tend to agree with what you say there quentin, that's a rather disturbing statement.

It be cool to see the Creeper's lair again, whereever it might be, since its house got burned down, and moved to a factory. I think it be cool to see it again

Both movies are great, and I thought the truck was cool. It was good to see him more in the second.

I liked them both. I didn't like the first one's secrecy. It was hush-hush and if that weren't the case Justin Long probably wouldn't have died. I liked it though. I liked the second one because it focused more on the Creeper being whatever he is (flying, super strenght and endurance, regeneration) rather than a creature driving a truck. I could go outside if I wanted to see that. Besides, I've seen too many movies with a killer driving a truck. It's so much nicer to see someone get snatched up into the air listening to their screams rapidly fading into the night.

i hope the story with the cowboys has a bigger part of the movie. i think it would be cool to see a horror/sci-fi cowboy movie!

lol, cowboys in a stand-off against monsters/demons in the local saloon with their six shooters. could be cult in the making!
