UPDATE: (7:34 AM PST) Ah, casting rumors - all too often, they turn out to be just that. Anton Yelchin, one of the stars of Terminator Salvation, has just denied the rumor that he was cast in the lead role of Green Lantern. Yelchin spoke to SCI FI Wire about the rumor while at Wonder-Con in San Francisco, CA.
"I had no idea about that," Yelchin said while discussing Terminator Salvation, where he plays the role of a young Kyle Reese. Bryce Dallas Howard chimed in, "He's like, where do these come from?"
"I have no clue," Yelchin continued. "I have no idea. I think I'm probably too young. I mean, no ones approached me, no one's said anything to me. So I imagine I'm just too young. I mean, it's a great character but i don't know anything about it. ... I haven't heard anything about it."
While we may not see Yelchin putting on Green Lantern's power ring, science fiction fans will see plenty of the young actor, both in Terminator Salvation, which opens May 21, and when he takes on the role of Chekov in JJ Abram's Star Trek, opening May 8, 2009.

With the news that
Green Lantern has a director and a release date finally set, it makes sense that talk would go to casting, and seeing who would take up the power ring of the cosmic superhero. According to our friends at
LatinoReview, Anton Yelchin may be in the running for the role.
Apparently the role has already been considered and rejected for nearly every male actor under thirty in Hollywood, with Ryan Gosling and Emile Hirsch both passing on the part.
Yelchin seems a little young to be taking on the part of Hal Jordan, who even before he becomes a superhero is already a seasoned test pilot, but he could certainly endear himself to sci-fic/action film fans depending on how well he does in
Terminator Salvation and
Star Trek.

So if a release date has been set and no casting decisions in solid stone, where does this leave the green ring of Green Lantern.
Drop cliffhanger
Ba Ba Bummmmmmmmmmmm
You know,I have a love hate relationship with movie rumors. On one hand it is fun to examine the "WHAT IF" scenerio and on the other hand they turn us into angry men and women bent on destroying each other for haveing a different opinion.
For now it is quiet, but tomorrow a new rumor will come and where will you be and what will you say?
"TWISTED SMILE WALKS OFF GREEN LANTERN PROJECT"
On Sunday March 11th, TWISTED SMILE the actor cast to wear the ring of Hal Jordan, walked off the project due to unknown reasons.
Sources close to the project said Twisted was becomeing worried about committing to such a huge franchice. Other's claim he was making odd contract requests that included a village of mushroom houses for his blue friends.
"He kept asking for some of the weirdest shit....what the hell is a bananna apple....WHAT IS IT?!?!"said a source.
This is just another set back for this film that has yet to begin shooting.
Stay right here for more updates.
monkey03 u clrearly haven't read any Green Lantern recently.
If you're going to equate The Green Lantern to a guy who makes big boxing gloves and buckets, you're clearly ignoring thirty subsequent years of storytelling that occur after the character's ridiculous nascency. The Geoff John's story is a great line. Rebirth has to be one of the better comics stories I've read in the past ten years. Just recently, Secret Origins came out, it's a really nicely done book. Also, Justice League: Year One is worth checking out.
So, i'll respecfully ask for one of you to step up and tell me why is he so fucking amazing?
really thought he was Charlie Bartlett, the kid that got kidnapped in Alpha Dog, he is in the new Star Trek. he is a definite up and coming actor, but he just isn't right for this part.
David Boreanez would be fine, not my number one choice but he is ok, Nathan Fillion could pull it off i guess, but i think he would need to get ripped. my top choice is still Josh Duhamel.
and i actually still think Scott Porter would be ok as Flash, i mean he is at least in his late 20's and is relatively built.
Nate Fillion would be good. He doesn't look that bad VIS. He has plenty of character (the right kind) to pull off Hal Jordan. Six years ago though.
They've gotta go young and good.
If he wasn't so good at choosing roles (i.e. he'll probably stay away form this one because it's not a "serious" film) but, Leonardo DiCaprio would be excellent.
