First 7 Minutes of Speed Racer Online!

Source:  Yahoo! Movies
Yahoo! Movies has posted the first seven minutes of the new Speed Racer film that opens tomorrow, May 9, in theaters everywhere. Click below to watch the beginning of The Wachowski Brothers brand new film.

Hurtling down the track, careening around, over and through the competition, Speed Racer (Emile Hirsch) is a natural behind the wheel. Born to race cars, Speed is aggressive, instinctive and, most of all, fearless. His only real competition is the memory of the brother he idolized-the legendary Rex Racer-whose death in a race has left behind a legacy that Speed is driven to fulfill.

Speed is loyal to the family racing business, led by his father, Pops Racer (John Goodman), the designer of Speed's thundering Mach 5. When Speed turns down a lucrative and tempting offer from Royalton Industries, he not only infuriates the company's maniacal owner (Roger Allam) but uncovers a terrible secret-some of the biggest races are being fixed by a handful of ruthless moguls who manipulate the top drivers to boost profits. If Speed won't drive for Royalton, Royalton will see to it that the Mach 5 never crosses another finish line.

The only way for Speed to save his family's business and the sport he loves is to beat Royalton at his own game. With the support of his family and his loyal girlfriend, Trixie (Christina Ricci), Speed teams with his one-time rival-the mysterious Racer X (Matthew Fox)-to win the race that had taken his brother's life: the death-defying, cross-country rally known as The Crucible.

Hate the kids acting when he's saying "please please please please" I mean his face doesn't change at all...it's sick to watch. Ugh

A 7 minute trailer a small clip? If it doesn't appeal to me after that, can't see the rest of the film doing so.

They wanted to name their kid "Valium" but it sounded girlish, then they thought of "Extasy" but then it sounded like a two-dollar stripper, "Crack" sounded like a stupid hick, and "Cocaine" sounded lame because they didn't like the nickname, so they settled for "Speed."

Did his parents think they were funny when naming him or somethin? "Oh, our last names are racer so let's call him speed. He'll get picked on all the time in school for having a name that also happens to be another name for meth, but it'll be fun to call him speed racer! We're clever like that!" Dumbasses

Like I've said, great visual style. But if the movie itself seems shit after a 7 MINUTE trailer, not watching the other 130 minutes to reinforce that view.

im gonna have to disagree with andrewryan on this. when spider-man three came out, a bunch of kids and their parents were standing there making a mile long line for tickets and spider-man three was pretty long. plus most little kids wont know how long the movie will be.

Looks just like the original cartoon a giant piece of crap the characters in the cartoon series were bland and lifeless and so is the cast of the feature film shame on the Wachowski Brothers for making this piece of crap only to fill their wallets with money from the sale of the shitty toy line.

I am looking forward to seeing this. I was a fan of the old cartoon and from what I've seen so far this movie looks like alot of fun.

And i have to disagree civil. Kids aren't gonna love this film cuz it's 2 and a half hours long. They won't be able to sit through all that

I'd like to add civil's attempt to bash elicash. THIS ISN'T A FUCKING CARTOON, U COCAIN SNORTING ASS-FUCK, IT'S A MOVIE BASED ON A CARTOON. THAT'S WHY WE'RE "BASHING" IT! How was that?

When i first saw trilers for this movie i thought it looked alright. i said i'd go see it just cause it's by the Wachowski Brothers. After watching the first 7 minutes of teh movie, i change my mind. Speed Racer's definately something i can pass on. the child actor... horrible, and a lot of the dialogue... aweful. if it's that bad in the first few minutes, i don't wanna see the rest of it.

People bashing a cartoon based movie for looking "cartoonish". Unbelievable.

Kids' gonna love this film with all the flashy lights and bright colors. I can already see the snot collecting on the DVD cases when this thing hit stores on DVD and into the household of undisaplined brats who can't sit still for a minute because of their hyperactivity and screaming for Kool-Aid Jammers and McDonald's meals in a sack.

Huh...I'm not too impress with this. I'm sure cartoon fans, graphic designers, and speed racer fans will like this movie, but beside that I dunno...
