Think about it this way. How does this ring if you were to repeat it to someone?:
"Batman Begins" (2005)
"The Dark Knight" (2008)
"Batman 3" (2011)
Yeah, sounds a bit cheezy to me. But that's just me.
And "Dark Knight Returns" implies that it'll be based on the graphic novel of the same name by Kevin Smith.
The first film featured the name "Batman" in the title since it seems that he was hating all forms of crime, such as "Stop it! Get rid of it! Irradicate it!" and now with the name "Dark Knight" it seems to imply that he'll cross the line of being a hero to do villainous things to stop the bad guys (which has been expressed in the trailers). Each of these personalities are demonstrated in the comics. So for the 3rd, how about "The Caped Crusader?"

Scroll down about 85% and you'll see "Nolan Series" in bold letters. This is what it says:
Nolan series
Director Christopher Nolan took the helm as director of the new Batman franchise with the 2005 film Batman Begins and the upcoming 2008 film The Dark Knight.
David Tennant has expressed an interest in portraying the Riddler in a future Batman movie, as has Frasier star David Hyde-Pierce.
In the viral marketing for The Dark Knight, Edward Nashton, one of the alias of The Riddler, is credited for writing an editorial in The Gotham Times Volume 2 which features an article about a Batman statue being added to the Wax Museum as well. Madame Soleil's Wax Museum was used in a 1966 episode of the Batman TV series, where the Riddler used a Batman statue to smuggle in a 'Universal Wax Solvent' from France, to be used later against Batman. Anthony Michael Hall was rumored for the role; however, it has been revealed that Hall is playing a reporter named Mike Engel.
While doing press for The Dark Knight, Gary Oldman alluded that the Riddler would be the villain in the proposed third film.[5]
Take it for what it is... a grain of salt.
