Roland Kickinger Is the New Conan?

Source:  The Hollywood Reporter
Roland Kickinger to potray Conan the BarbarianRisky Biz Blog has reported that Lionsgate and Nu Image/Millennium may have found the star for their Conan remake: 41-year-old Austrian actor Roland Kickinger, who is in talks to play the role that Arnold Schwarzenegger christened in the 1982 classic Conan The Barbarian.

Apparently, there are some other uncanny similarities: Kickinger is also a bodybuilder-turned-actor from the Central European country, and he also had a role as a T-800 in the Terminator Salvation.

Kickinger also played a Conan The Barbarian-era version of Schwarzenegger in See Arnold Run, the 2005 A&E biopic about the actor-turned-politician.

Shooting will begin in the fall at Avi Lerner's Bulgaria-based studio. Marcus Nispel (Friday the 13th) will direct.

Anyone who thinks the Rock can play conan is not qualified to fucking comment on ANYTHING related to casting. Seriously, the Rock is great at comedy but sucked all fucking ass as a barbarian. He has a boyish grin permanently fixated on his face. The scorpian king sucked ass, only rock fans, and those desperate for a barbarian movie liked the piece of crap.

Yeah, Returns took place in continuity with the original films, so a Reeve look-a-like was accepted...but this...this has no connection to the original Conan, so...whatever lol

I though Superman Returns was intended as a (sort-of) continuation to the first two Superman films. Casting a "reboot" of Christopher Reeve makes sense.

But this...

We need another VIS rant to sum it all up. ;)

I knew it. I fucking told you all....

I CALLED THIS....Perfect Cast Role.

Erm, this guy did play Arnie in his Biopic entitled 'Running Arnold/Arnie'
Henceforth why i stated his the best cast role for the job.

Agent Vis is corrent, according to current sources, this adaptation will be more faithful to the original stories created by Robert E. Howard.
Personally i think they will adapt from the Conan Comics not the Novels, but that is my opinion.

And Remy...The Rock as Conan....GTFO

Kickinger pwns Rock
&
Arnie pwns Kickinger who pwns Rock
&
Kickinger played Arnie

Do the maths...

oh yea, he look like Arnold... he was in the new Terminator 4... i don't mind him, you know... he should be Arnold's son, what do you think?
  (Delete)
June 19th, 2009 11:10am
He does look like Arnold, but his age will be a factor in any sequeal after this. He is 41, while Arnold was i think 29-33 age range? And this is like Bond. Same person, new story, but diffrenct Bond. This was the idea that Oliver Stone had whe he wrote the first one. A James Bond like guy, with a new film every few years, and then a new guy if need be. If you want to hear his take, watch the special features on the Conan the Barbian. I think a younger guy should be Conan though. Sorry, you might not think it is good pick, but the Rock would be a solid pick.Conan in the comics was large and muscular, but not ment like arnold was. He was great in it, couse it work well. Conan was meant to have the same kind feel in looks as the Rock did in the Scorpion King.

But maybe I was just referring to electroshock therapy, which is exactly what the producers of this movie need to wake them up...

it's "etc." not "ect."

etc. is an abbreviation for etcetera, which is not spelled ectetera.

They'll never make this film; they keep cycling through all these actors for the lead role, never satisfied with one.

UPDATE: Roland Kickinger is not Conan...Wait he is!...ect...ect...

Its not really a remake, like VIS said, the conan films ignored the creator of conan, Robert E. Howard's books and stories about the character, they may have taken a few bits and pieces but nothing of the source material was used.
And Pathfinder wasn't that bad, I thought the look and feel the way it was shot was awesome, some scnes looked Boris paintings.
And im sorry the Arnold conan films ae not that epic at all, but it doesnt matter I want to see another conan film.

STOP CALLING IT A FUCKING REMAKE!

Conan is like any other pre-existing character. Different incarnations can be presented on screen. It's been done with Batman, Superman, the Hulk...they ONLY reason that people are pissed about this is because Arnold was in the original movie. That doesn't mean you can just ignore the fact that the movie ignored the original stories by Robert E. Howard. I've read this movie will follow those stories more closely, making it an adaptation, not a remake. If it doesn't follow the stories, then I still won't care...Batman Begins reinvigorated Batman, maybe this can do the same with Conan. I don't like the choice of director, I'll give you that, but I'm not pissed just because it's a "remake." The movie has potential, but I don't think the director can make it as epic as it could be, and THAT will be it's downfall, not the fact that Arnold isn't in it. Nothing's set in stone just because the Governator starred.

FIRST MISTAKE: remaking a 80s story that could have only worked at that time.
SECOND MISTAKE: getting Marcus Nispel to direct, just cause he did PATHFINDER, another poor fantasy/historical
THIRD MISTAKE: lead casting this poor sap as conan

this film is doomed and i don't care the least about it. FAIL, FAIL, FAIL.
