Steven Conrad to Write The Karate Kid

The Hollywood Reporter's Risky Biz Blog is reporting that Columbia Pictures's remake of The Karate Kid is getting some chops from The Pursuit of Happyness screenwriter Steven Conrad.Directed by Harald Zwart and starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith, the remake will hit theaters June 11, 2010, and also stars Oscar nominee Taraji P. Henson who will play the mother.
Conrad takes over the script reboot, which originally was handed to Chris Murphy.
Production begins next month.
