In a story from
Variety, the mini-major StudioCanal is teaming up with Neal Moritz's L.A.-based Original Films for a remake of
Cliffhanger.
The original film was an action-adventure thriller that took place in the mountains. It was originally directed by Renny Harlin in 1993.
The redo will follow a group of young climbers.
"Just as they rebooted
Star Trek, we're going to do the same with
Cliffhanger, " stated Moritz, who is slated to produce.
Italy was the location in the first film that stood in for the Colorado Rockies. This new film will take place in "multiple cliff-face locations."
Currently, StudioCanal is trying to attach a screenwriter.
StudioCanal is fully financing this new version of
Cliffhanger.

"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR VULCAN MIND!!!" :P
(this comment was in no way directed at anyone in particular, but if you felt offended then I was probably talking about you)
Hollywood needs to grow some new balls
like thats a fair comparison.
All the 80s action films are getting destroyed, whats next running man, commando, double impact, rocky????
Just like STAR TREK,...The reporters who interview should have some balls to point out the obvious!
CLIFFHANGER reboot, great so not long before we see OVER THE TOP, TANGO & CASH remakes, yahhhh!
lastly, i think the Star Trek comparison means they r goin to some how have Sly go back in time and cuz him not to drop the person in the opening scene, therefore rewriting the history of THE CLIFFHANGER!!!! DUN DUN DUN!!!! dumb idea
According to that poster he is.
