In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, John Carpenter's 1988 film They Live is going to be remade by Universal and studio-based Strike Entertainment.

The first version featured a hard luck guy (Roddy Piper) "who discovers glasses that let him see aliens walking among us and controlling humanity." Suddenly, the man finds his purpose in life as he tries to save the world.

Currently, there is no writer on board for this project.

the original was great, jr, and it even relates to the present day because of the whole new world order conpiracy deal that folks are buying into.

That actually sound like a good idea cause thats what the fans and movie goers want to see. They could vote on some movies that they say are ok to remake and unwanted to remake. Thats a great idea!

They live remake better not be some cheap ass dumb film that gets turned into shit! Like the texas chainsaw massacre ,and the hitcher. Those were good remakes but they aren't great. I am legend was a great remake. Casino Royale was a good remake well not to sure it was really a remake. ikilledbill2wice you better do something with your idea cause it has some potential.

there should be a website where people can petition which movies they never want to be remade! (i almost feel like trade marking that idea) you know like, every week people can nominate another movie and if enough signatures comes up, it cant ever get a remake. this is one of them! also, yes, the thing too.

I agree with you, The Dark Knight. They BETTER NOT remake The Thing. That's my 2nd favorite horror movie.

i freakin' love 'they live', i still watch it every couple months or so just so i dont forget how great it is.

theyre gonna make this movie one way or the other, apparently, so i just hope it isnt TOO MUCH of an insult to the original, like the remake of the hitcher was. that was just a tragedy... er, travesty... whichever.

This is a stupid idea they don't need to redo this film. Why can't people come up with orgional ideas any more so hollywood is going to remake everything till there is nothing to remake. what's next a Gone With the Wind remake by Michel Bay and staring Will Smith as Reht Butler. For the love of god do orgional films.

This sucks, 'They Live' is a classic Carpenter film! Who the hell could they get to replace Roddy Piper? no one! The film rocks. hollywood need to fire some writers and start fresh. Im really getting sick of the crapfest of Hollywood film making these days. the remake every decent B rated cult classic from the 80's and dont even attempt to do a new original script.
I love the orginal film, John Carpenter rocks.

I sympathize with The Dude - why do they need to remake this?! First they wanna remake Escape From New York now they want to remake another Carpenter movie. What is the next suggestion? - a remake of Big Trouble in Little China?!! - Develop a movie off the thousands of scripts you recieve every month you studio morons!
