Is Another Mortal Kombat Film in the Works?

Source:  SGV Tribune
Is another popular video game slated for another film adaptation? According to one of the stars of the first film, it appears so. SGV Tribune spoke with Chris Casamassa, who portrayed Scorpion in the first Mortal Kombat film, who revealed he's coming back for a third film.

It is quite possible this is happening, since Warner Bros. recently purchased Midway Games, which created the original video game franchise, and the deal included the studio rights to such properties as Mortal Kombat, Spy Hunter, Joust and many others.

Casamassa also revealed that filming was set to start in September. We'll be sure to keep you posted on any and all details regarding a third Mortal Kombat film.

Predators, how many times are you going to mention that this series needs a reboot. Your fucking annoying.

My bad that was the series, not the films.

I think the one your referring to is the Great Kung Lao (ancestor of Kung Lao & Liu Kang) not Kung Lao.

Predators, there is literally no chance in hell a MK vs DC movie would happen lol. First off, the game's plot was the worst plot I have ever seen, not to mention the terrible dialogue. But anyway, it wouldn't make any sense, the movie that is. Why would Batman be fighting SubZero? It'd make more sense for a tournament type of thing rather than random matches wherever the heck they are lol. But then again, it'd still wouldn't make any sense. You can't kill Superman. Scorpion has a kryptonite spearhead? lol. The only ones that would be cool would be Batman, The Flash, and Green Lantern. Wonder Woman would get her ass kicked lol. Superman is too Godly to put in it. Unless the places he battles is kryptonite exposed or something so it makes him human, but it'd be lame to see Superman fighting hand to hand without any of his powers.

I thought I just said that Predators and JA? Lol. I thought Kung Lao was like an ancestor of Liu Kang? Like way before Liu Kang was even born. Liu Kang was the main character in both movies. I don't remember anything about Goro killing Kung Lao though.

Btw Newkill, stop quoting The Rock please, thanks lol.

So bascially your saying base it on Deadly Alliance...

Kung Lao was in the previous films, chad...He got killed by Goro, i think, i know he was killed though.

I agree with this film needs a reboot, since the fact that Mortal Kombat Devastation has been in production hell for more than a decade says something about it.
I say they take the MK i wrote based on the Lin Kuei, well it is MK but the sub stories of the Lin Kuei work in as a sub plot. Man i need to type that stuff up again.

I also agree kinda on verge with chad's synopsis, but that would seem too cheesey if made like that it would ahve to be made in a serious and dark tone like visual and ual wise.

Predators, Newkill did have a point you were completely off topic, like way off topic lol, but then again, he over-reacts easily, like usual and talks shit like always. I mean some of his insults are getting better (finally) but his common sense gauge is fucked up a bit so you have to try to get used to his way of thinking and behavior. And movieweb already banned him once for shit talking everyone but he's been a little better since he signed up again.

I like the idea of Mortal Kombat. There is really no way to bring it to the big screen without making it somewhat cheesy guys. Most of the characters are bad ass though. First, you have to think of a good plot (which would be extremely hard to do) since they don't really have a plot persay, more like guidelines win or die and go up the ranks. It's a tournament, not The Reader lol. It's all about cool characters with cool fighting moves, that's it.

The only way they could go from the 2nd film would be to go with Quan Chi and Shang Tsung killing Liu Kang like they did in whatever game (shit they have fucking way too many I can't remember lol) and have new characters play the good guys but still have Sub Zero's brother as a good guy, maybe have him fight Scorpion again but to the death this time, for the tournament. I want to see Scorpion fight a no named earth warrior and just destroy him lol. I want to see him use his harpoon on somebody like in a flash back scene of them telling about the past victories of netherworld or whatever it's called. They need Sub Zero, Scorpion, Reptile, Raiden, Qaun Chi, Jax, and make another descendant of Liu Kang/Kung Lao as the main character of the movie. At least it'd be fresh lol.

Hey Newkill, I agree with one of your posts from a while ago, since they are redoing so much, why not just redo everything in the whole world? Fuck Hollywood and its unoriginality!! Oh yeah, you're right, there has yet to be a good video game film!

Newkill, I'm not going to sit and read through every post, sorry. You're just going to have to deal with it, bud.

I personally like the first movie but I can foresee, if done right (of course) that it could be better, only time will tell.

and to add, they took the fucking rating down from Mature to Teen. Some fucking kiddy shit. How could Mortal kombat resort to this. Dc vs. Mk has been the worst team up in game history since Battle Toads and Double Dragon joined.

July 8th, 2009 5:44pm
I thought it was the most retarded VS. game ever. And the story behind it was completely useless. I'd be more satisfied if they left the story part out all together. I want DC Vs. Marvel not Dc vs. some fucking Mortal Kombat. They also need to go back to that arcade look because all it is now are pretty colors, bad fight combos. the sad thing is the mini games are way better than the fighting.
