Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins Heads Into Production

Source:  Variety
Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins is quickly moving into production over at Warner Brothers. According to Variety, the film will begin shooting in early 2008 with a revised storyline that could expand into two more feature films.

This new version of the old franchise will be similar in scale to Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines, and will have an event sized budget. At the same time, Warner Brothers is also producing a small screen adaptation of The Terminator entitled The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which will air on Fox during its midseason run early next year.

John Brancato and Michael Ferris have completed a final draft of the screenplay, and the studio is currently looking for a director to helm the project. At this time, McG is likely to step behind the camera for the first entry in this proposed trilogy, but no deal has been signed at this date and time.

As for Arnold Schwarzenegger's participation in the film, executive producer Moritz Borman stated, "We've left it open for him to maybe do a cameo. He has an important job, as we know, and the final decision will be based on his desire and availability, along with what the director wants."

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins will be released in the summer of 2009.

but i definitely think Arnold needs to make some kind of appearance in this series, even if its not in the first film. He needs to be in the series. After all, he is the terminator that gets sent through time for every movie. It would be stupid to go on without him

i agree. they were definitely very well portrayed by those two. It is very dumb to do recasting of major parts. it angers the audience. just look at the batman franchise. it fell apart due to recasting and changing the crew. keep the same people

All I know is, Nick Stahl & Clare Danes ARE John Connor & Kate Brewster; can't even imagine anyone else in those roles. They were brilliant in T3. Both actors are extremely good, and they really inhabited their roles. If the producers have even a small clue, they'll cast Nick & Clare again. It is almost impossible to imagine anyone else being anywhere near as good as those two.

Yeah there are many ways to make the story work. but i think arnold should show up in the thrid movie in these next three movies. You know have the first two and alot of the three being a build up to his intro to John Connor. I think that would be brilliant writing.

the Terminator franchise is awesome. Sure, Arnold is great, but there are alternatives, like terminators being created out of Kyle reese or Sarah Connors DNA. Bringing Linda Hamiton and/or Micheal Biehn back would surely mess with John Connors head.

They need arnold in the series. not in every movie. If they can find a way to make the storyline work that its a build up to Arnold's introduction into the series that's the only way i can see the movies work without Arnold. Other than that the need Arnold back desperately.

arnold is a good idea, but he is getting to old to be back in the role of the terminator

as i have said before i think they can do this without arnold. He is "a terminator" not "the terminator" there were several different models in the future (ex: comics, and the first film). If a cameo is to be done by arnold, it would be nice at the end or the middle of the film to see cyberdyne send him back in time along with kyle reese, just for continuity. It would be a nice twist if they modeled a terminator in the future to try and infiltrate the compound where john is to take his place. There are so many alternatives they could do to work the story around arnold. As long as they dont get vin diesel to do it, i would be happy with anything... of course vin diesel acts like a robot half the time on screen, so he may be a perfect candidate.

Over ambitious - Just how much cash can you squeeze from an theme that's been done to death?

I'll wait for the dvd......why can't Warner come up with new, original ideas for sci-fi movies?
