First off, the following news item came from a section of the
The Digital Bits called "The Rumor Mill," however the information seems pretty legitimate.
In a story from
The Digital Bits, it appears that Lucasfilm has an "ultimate, 6-film
Star Wars anniversary DVD box set planned for 2007."
While nothing is known yet about the bonus features, it seems that there will be more changes made to the films, deleted scenes and probably a host of featurettes.
Also, there is no word on if the new set will include "remastered versions of the original theatrical editions of the films."
On a different, but still science fiction line, according to
LookAndSoundofPerfect.com (the official HD-DVD website), it looks like
Blade Runner will be coming to HD-DVD at some point in 2006 or 2007.
Unfortunately, that is all we know thus far about that films eventual release in the next generation format.
