First it was a
prequel, then word arose that it was a
sequel, but now, according to Will Smith himself,
I Am Legend 2 will in fact be a prequel.
Collider spoke with Will Smith today, while he was promoting his new film,
Seven Pounds, and Smith said the next film would definitely be a prequel.
We have a fantastic prequel idea...we're still trying to work through a couple of bumps in the story. It's essentially the fall of the last city - the last stand of Manhattan. The movie would be...within the body of the movie D.C. and then Manhattan would fall as the last city. It's a really cool idea trying to figure it out...there's a reason why we have to take a small band and we have to get into D.C. So we have to make our way from New York to D.C. and then back to New York.
When asked if Smith's beloved dog would be in the prequel, he replied, "Yes, the dog will be a puppy."
We'll keep you posted on any other
I Am Legend 2 news as soon as more information comes in.

im cool with that
For the record, I'm being facetious.
I also still believe that they should just leave the movie alone and do the book's version instead with another good actor (no, not Cruise). And it doesn't have to be in the cinemas either. It could be a TV movie. Especially on a cable network, like HBO or Showtime.
I'm guessing they need it to be a prequel so Smith can be in it so its gets a good promotional appearance, i mean come on people you know you went to see I Am Legend because of Smith bein in it and nothing else.
Why don't they make it half prequel and half sequel, and if it is a prequel it would be stupid not to have the dog in it, because he got slaughtered in the first film which if is still i don't know still a sequel.
But Smith is starting to over-rate himself and give news without Studios consent.
I mean come one the over-rating is becoming to be ignorance and arogance.
Oldboy
Obama Biopic
I Am Legend (what ever the heck it is)
Hancock 2
Jeez why doesn't he also become Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit
Of course, tomorrow it will be a sequel, and then a trilogy, and then a remake, and then it'll be a prequel again.
Hopefully, the story really is as good as Smith said. I'll see it, either way, but hopefully its not just another 'zombie's attack the city' movie.
