I Am Legend Follow-Up Is Indeed a Prequel

Source:  Collider
First it was a prequel, then word arose that it was a sequel, but now, according to Will Smith himself, I Am Legend 2 will in fact be a prequel. Collider spoke with Will Smith today, while he was promoting his new film, Seven Pounds, and Smith said the next film would definitely be a prequel.

We have a fantastic prequel idea...we're still trying to work through a couple of bumps in the story. It's essentially the fall of the last city - the last stand of Manhattan. The movie would be...within the body of the movie D.C. and then Manhattan would fall as the last city. It's a really cool idea trying to figure it out...there's a reason why we have to take a small band and we have to get into D.C. So we have to make our way from New York to D.C. and then back to New York.

When asked if Smith's beloved dog would be in the prequel, he replied, "Yes, the dog will be a puppy."

We'll keep you posted on any other I Am Legend 2 news as soon as more information comes in.

Will Smith as Bilbo Baggins...Oh man. That's funny, Chronic. I mean, if Beyounce thinks she can be Wonder Woman, why not a black hobbit? Needs to add a few pounds first though.

For the record, I'm being facetious.

Smith needs to take his foot off the accelerator a little bit.. he's starting to resemble Nicolas Cage a few years back, taking any and all movies offered to him.

All those things would have eventually gotten leaked somehow, Chronic. Better to come from Smith than someone who's hardly involved

I wrote in a previous report that I would wait until Smith confirms whether or not it would be a prequel or sequel. A prequal makes more sense.

I also still believe that they should just leave the movie alone and do the book's version instead with another good actor (no, not Cruise). And it doesn't have to be in the cinemas either. It could be a TV movie. Especially on a cable network, like HBO or Showtime.

I Am Legend was pretty lame.. this really doesn't make any damn sense.

Ok can they bloody make up their mind, first its a prequel, then a sequel and now its back to a bloody prequel.

I'm guessing they need it to be a prequel so Smith can be in it so its gets a good promotional appearance, i mean come on people you know you went to see I Am Legend because of Smith bein in it and nothing else.
Why don't they make it half prequel and half sequel, and if it is a prequel it would be stupid not to have the dog in it, because he got slaughtered in the first film which if is still i don't know still a sequel.

But Smith is starting to over-rate himself and give news without Studios consent.
I mean come one the over-rating is becoming to be ignorance and arogance.

Obama Biopic
I Am Legend (what ever the heck it is)
Hancock 2

Jeez why doesn't he also become Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit

Okay. So obviously this will be less of a character film and a bit more of an action movie, but it could still be very good.

I AM LEGEND was fantastic. The prequel is indeed better than a sequel, and the studio, with the money they made, it would only be a matter of time before they wanted more from the franchise. SO I guess this is the lesser of two evils, and the plot doesn't seem so bad. Will have to wait and see.

I Am Legend was great. I'll be looking forward to this.

Of course, tomorrow it will be a sequel, and then a trilogy, and then a remake, and then it'll be a prequel again.

Hopefully, the story really is as good as Smith said. I'll see it, either way, but hopefully its not just another 'zombie's attack the city' movie.

Honestly nothing happened in IAL. It was well made just nothing really happened the story was thin. Which turned off of it. But I like it more and more now that I know what to expect.

OMG guys, what's up with this, I am legend should stay a masterpiece the way it is. I really don't think it's possible to make it better with a prequel. if they are making a prequel it better be amazingly amazing to take our eyes off the first and say they made it better by the second.

I think its a good idea of a prequel then a sequel but then again they should leave I Am Legend alone.

Well, I'd rather it be a prequel than a sequel, but I'd prefer neither. Not because I didn't like the movie-I loved it-I just think they should leave it alone. Smith's involved so...we'll see
