Michael Radford, best known for directing
William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice and
Il Postino, has just announced that he will direct Krishna Shah's script titled
Taj. According to
Variety, Michael A. Simpson and Judy Cairo are producing alongside Ken Atchity and Ch-Li Wong.
Taj is a love story between 17th century Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal, the queen for whom he built the Taj Mahal as a mausoleum. Radford recently visited Mumbai to scout locations for his production of
Taj.
Production on the project will start later this year in India.
