EXCLUSIVE: Michael Caine Reveals The Dark Knight Secrets!

Source:  B. Alan Orange
Movie PictureThe excitement, the drama, the laughter. Speaking with Sir Michael Caine is a thrilling, amusement park ride-like experience. I recently met up with him and Kenneth Branagh to discuss their tense new cat-and-mouse like caper Sleuth. After chatting about the film in length, I breached the subject of The Dark Knight with Mr. Caine, who seemed incredibly anxious to talk about the upcoming Batman sequel. "Is there anything new you can tell me about The Dark Knight?"

The classically trained actor smiled, a bit of menace laced throughout his gleeful grin, "Yes. I can give it away. I can tell you the biggest secret. The most shocking thing for both you and I..." He took a beat, playing to the camera that was capturing our interview, "It's Heath Ledger as the Joker. He is going to surprise a lot of people. He is absolutely terrifying. I'd say that he is the scariest thing I've ever seen on screen."

Well, okay, we already knew that. He told another publication the same thing less than a week ago. So I pressed the matter with him a bit, "Does Alfred and the Joker get into an altercation?"

He shook his head with a certain type of salesman like delight, "Yes. They do. They get into quite the altercation."

"Does Alfred make it out alive?"

This is when Caine put his finger to his lips and shushed me, "Now, that would be giving too much away."

"Well, are you signed on to do a third sequel?"

Michael laughed heartedly, and then shrugged with indifference, "You tell me!"

I guess we'll have to wait until July 18th, 2008, when The Dark Knight opens to find out if Batman's butler makes it out alive. In the mean time, you can check out Michael Caine's award worthy performance in Sleuth starting October 12th, 2007.

that would suck tho if they did kill off alfred. he is such a big character in the comic books. and Bruce promised him in Begins to keep him safe. and protect him from these types of people. i cant see Nolan killing him off. he knows what killing off characters in these movies does, unless they died in the comic, like Norman Osborne did in Spider-man. other wise people wont like it. i can see Alfred getting hurt really bad and Nolan making us think he is dead, but not acually killing him.

you will be disappointed? are you being serious? why in the world would you be disappointed with the dark knight. everything we have been given so far has been badass. look at the comics the joker is being based off of. look at how awesome ledger looks! listen to his laugh. what about that telephone number you would call and hear the guy suffering from what the joker has done. the haha's on ibelieveinharveydenttoo.com which spell out see you in december! what about the fact that the very skilled actor michael caine forgot his lines because ledgers joker scared the crap out of him. how much more hype do you need dude!

I was impressed with the revamp of the franchise, and from the looks of it I won't be dissappointed with the follow up.

dont worry guys i can reassure you they wouldnt kill alfred maybe end the movie making it questionable whether or not he was but dont actually kill him. alfred is too big too popular a character for them to kill off. They made the mistake of killing off the joker in batman 89 and look how much they regretted that.

It could be cool to have a plot twist similar to the Death in the Family story from the comics. Sans Robin of course.
