Art director for such videogames as
Gears of War and
Unreal Tournament 3, Jerry O'Flaherty has been hired to direct the Warner Brother's film
Thundercats. According to
Variety, the film will mark O'Flaherty's directorial debut.
This newly updated version of the best selling 80s toy line and cartoon series will be filmed entirely in CG-animation. O'Flaherty stated, "It feels like a natural thing for me to step into. Games have come so far now. The last four years of my life have been about bringing the energy of filmmaking into the videogame experience."
O'Flaherty and Paul Sopocy are currently working on a final draft of the script.
It will be an origin story that expands on the major heroes and villains from the animated series. The plot will focus on Lion-O's coming of age as the leader of the Thundercats.
The film will be released sometime in 2009.

similar to how i fear dragonball might flop.
oh well.. we'll see.
although back to the subject, thundercats although i was a fan, just seems like a big movie production of broadways "cats" with swords and tanks. Not sure if i am a buyer on this one but with the success of transformers, and michael bays ego getting even larger, prepare for a bum rush.
