Marvel Updates Film Release Schedule

Source:  Marvel Entertainment
Paving the way for the production and release of The Avengers, Marvel announced today an adjusted release pipeline for its self-produced feature film properties that reflects the first time individual super hero characters and story arcs will be inter-woven and culminate in a multi-character motion picture.

Separately, Marvel Studios confirmed today that Sony Pictures Entertainment will release Spider-Man 4 on May 6, 2011. Additionally, Marvel Studios has revised the release dates for Thor and The First Avenger: Captain America as part of its release strategy for an uninterrupted road to The Avengers, now debuting May 4, 2012.

A Marvel character-based film will now launch the summer box office season for three years in a row, from 2010 through 2012.

"This new schedule strongly sequences Marvel's movie debut dates, big screen character introductions and momentum. It maximizes the visibility of our single character-focused films, leading to the highly anticipated release of the multi-character The Avengers film in 2012," said David Maisel, Chairman, Marvel Studios.

Sony Pictures' and Marvel Studios' Spider-Man 4 is slated for May 6, 2011. To date, all three motion pictures in the phenomenally successful Spider-Man franchise have generated nearly $2.5 billion worldwide theatrically.

Below is Marvel Studios' 2010-2012 updated release schedule for its slate of self-produced and financed feature films:

Iron Man 2: formerly May 7, 2010, now May 7, 2010
Thor: formerly July 16, 2010, now June 17, 2011
The First Avenger: Captain America: formerly May 6, 2011, now July 22, 2011
The Avengers: formerly July 15, 2011, now May 4, 2012

The release date for Iron Man 2 remains unchanged. Iron Man 2 is the sequel to the blockbuster film, Iron Man, which has grossed nearly $600 million worldwide.

know this is the wrong thread, but tell me what you think of my Predator 3 plot/synopis. Believe me, there will be alot of referances from the first 2 Predator movies.
It first starts in space as we see the Preds ship (predator 1 style) flying towards Earth, dispatching 2 pods, that leave a fierce contrail as they enter Earth.
Then it takes place in Central/Middle America's jungles, and Columbia. A shootout barrages between Columbians and some U.S soldiers and some CIA agents. The Soldiers and CIA are trying to rescue a couple of Cabinet ministers, and other CIA agents that have been captured by the Columbian Drug Lords.
At a large Columbian's camp in the Central American jungles, Columbian Drug lords, and Columbian Women gather weapons and bulletproof armor. One of the Predators takes advantage of this, and massacre all the Columbians in the camp, including the women for the first time in any of the predator franchises, since they were armed, and consider dangerous to the Predator. It decapitates a Columbian crack king. The predator removes the skin from the head. It then sucks the blood from the skull through a tube, then begins polishing the skull.
A group of Commandoes are sent to the Central/Middle America's jungle to find the missing CIA agents and the 2 Cabinet Minister. In addition Dutch (Arnold character from predator 1) now a under a division six working his own case in capturing a predator, using a false mission in siezing any drug content of the Columbians (DEA) as a cover up. When the Commandoes arrive at the Columbians camp, they find the dead Columbians drug lords, hug by the vines, all skinned, and the dead Columbian women hung by vines, naked, and the crack king hung naked, with his head missing. Dutch arrives at the camp. He offer's the commandoes help, but doesn't reveal anything about the predator.
Later that night at a rural Columbia city, in a penthouse, another Columbian crack king is having sex with a Columbian girl. A group of other Columbian Drug Lord wait out side the room in which the crack king is in. The second predator sneaks into the penthouse, and massacre the group of Columbians, before entering the room in which the crack king is in. The Columbian crack king picks up a sword in order fight off the predator, just before being killed by it. The predator presses his hand into the Columbian crack king's back, gripping the spinal cord. It pulls it hand out with the spinal cord, connected to the Columbian's skull. The predator proceeds into killing the Columbian girl.
The Commandoes and Dutch find the penthouse. They also find that the group of Columbian drug lords have been hung and skinned. In the other room they find the dead crack king hung from the ceiling naked, and his girlfriend dead hung from the ceiling skinned.
Later on some of the commandoes are mysteriously killed. THe main character of the Commandoes is furious with Dutch because of all the deaths. Dutch then reveals to the soldiers that the missing CIA agents and the 2 Cabinet minister are already dead, althought the Commandoes don't believe him. Dutch then leave the Commandoes. 2 other Commandoes are killed.
Dutch then enters a small warehouse in the Columbia city, where the bodies, of the dead Commandoes, and the missing CIA agents and Cabinet Ministers dead show up. The Commandoes are hung from the ceiling naked, and blood covered. The predator the attacks Dutch, resulting, Dutch not leaving a scratch on the predator, and Dutch have his arm cut off by the disc, impaled by the predator. The predator then decapitates Dutch, taking his skull. The Predator screeches, holding the skull up in the air. The Commandoes hear the screeching of the Predator through the jungles.
That it so far.

DC is too busy with their animation department making GREAT feature animated films while Marvel ponders what release dates will their hypothetical films get and slacking on competition for the animation market. Film-wise, DC has films in the works although they are waiting to hear from Christopher Nolan to greenlight Batman 3 and the rest will follow right behind that. Green Lantern will also be coming out. Personally, I think a Wonder Woman film is overdue before a Green Lantern. But what have you.

i've got to say I saw this coming. There was no way they were going to make a decent Thor movie in one year without even having the role cast by now. The Only Movie I REALLY care about now is Iron Man 2

Marvel Studios is just learning how to get their films organized because they just started up last year with the fantastic Iron Man movie. I always thought Marvel Studios original schedule was a little too ambitious. Not impossible, but a little too tight for a film schedule. This schedule is a lot better and I think it allows for enough time to get the films made and made right.
