JUST STOP! Why can't any videogame movie just follow the game plot? 300, and sin city (are not videogames but nevertheless) were taken directly from the pages to the screen and were wonderful. To my knowledge no game movie has done this. Give it a shot hollywood.

And Damn, Alice killed Angie!? I hate her now!

I hate that like I hate when they killed off Marie in The Bourne Supremacy. That pissed me off! They couldn't just have Jason leave her somewhere and tell her that it's getting too dangerous, right? And why were they running in that movie. They established at the end of The Bourne Identity, that she had her own scooter rental business, and that nobody was after her. Why were they on the run in part 2? Sucks!

I don't think that you understand the meaning of the term, "Jump the shark". It's a term coined after an episode of Happy Days, when Fonzy actually jumped his motorcycle over a tank with a shark in it. The reference henceforth has been applied to any act in a given form of media, when something is done to create suspense or improve ratings, but is actually so silly, it shows as an act of desperation. And instead of improving ratings, it just comes out looking really laughable and absurd. It's usually invoked and applied to a show that once had credibility. Having a famous actors/guest star on the show, could also be a form of Jumping the shark. And that's "Jumping the shark".

The Fonzy stunt was even lampooned in an episode of the Simpsons called "Bart the Daredevil", in which the stuntman Captain Lance Murdock, tried to jump a tank filled with alligators sharks and even a lion! He didn't make it across. The animals got him as he tried to crawl out, and he broke every bone in his body. That's the episode when Bark becomes inspired, and tries to jump Springfield Gorge.

That is what I meant by "jumped the shark".

Vanboy ~

As Vampire2000 recently and kindly pointed out to me, Angie Ashford from "Apocalypse" was killed by Alice when the first instance of the Umbrella satellites took her over, as controlled by Dr. Isaacs. This happens between "Apocalypse" and "Extinction" and is the reason why Alice leaves the group and "downloads the satellite coordinates and stays off their grids" in the latter film. She also tells Carlos in "Extinction" that she was putting everyone in danger by being around them because Umbrella could take control of her at any second. That's also why she checks her watch and looks up at the sky. It was a backstory between movies. But I hear you, I hate when movies don't explain shit, either.

(QUOTE=Vanboy)
And CBF, I think all of the Alice clones just showed how badly the franchise really "jumped the shark".
(/QUOTE)

I really have no idea what you are referring to here, but ever since "Apocalypse" it was hinted that they took her blood and injected her with the T-Virus. In which in "Extinction," we learn that her blood suppresses the T-Virus which is why she is an anomaly to Umbrella and is why the clones are revealed in RE3. We saw clues in RE2 and RE3, but only at the end of RE3 do we learn that Umbrella was up to more shit than we originally thought. Somewhere between RE1 and RE2 they did shit to Alice that we still don't know about. I assure you that this story arc will resolve in "Afterlife." They are definitely going somewhere with it. I don't think that they "jumped the shark."

jdaze, she's showed her tits in almost every movie she's been in.

And what happened to Sophie Vavasseur as Angie Ashford in RE: Apocalypse? Her character just vanished. And not even a mention of her. She was pretty important to Alice, because she had the T-virus in her too. I hate when things like that change between movies.

And where did that rag tag group of characters come from. Like Ashanti? That was just gratuitous use of a popular singer. Her character got killed so quick, and we didn't even find out anything about who she was or where she came from. It seems like that one was thrown together.

And CBF, I think all of the Alice clones just showed how badly the franchise really "jumped the shark".

I hope that there are just the undead. I'm kind of tired of the mutant creatures. More rotting Dobermans though. They're still creepy and evil enough to pump up the adrenaline and the laughs.

The plot sounds cool enough. Please make it more creepy like the first game.

Cool. Thanks, Vamp. Yeah you know, because they sort of hinted that at the end of "Extinction." I'm sure you already know what I'm about to say, but with The White Queen telling Alice that her blood is the cure to the T-Virus and that the Vegas Facility had all the tools required to create an antidote/cure. Alice realizes she can "end all this," but before she can get to that - there's "a small problem" - the end of the movie!

I think Anderson does plan to make this movie the conclusion to the series.

"Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights."

I'm hoping this means a final showdown and an end to the series. Besides "Afterlife," I'm not sure how much longer the series can live on profitably. IMO "Afterlife" should be the conclusion. A final showdown with Alice/Umbrella Corp & CEO Wesker, White Queen/Alice blood-cure, and Claire Redfield convoy/Alaska/Los Angeles - those story arcs should wrap up the series.

That's a very good point, CBF, but the only solid things he used from "Resident Evil: Code: Veronica" was the name Angela Asford, the last name Ashford, and the part where Alice is facing those two guards towards the end, and she drops her gun, then falls down, grabs the gun, and takes out the two guards. I'm crossing my fingers as well... Jill is my favorite character, and Sienna was excellent. I want her back! lol.

If memory serves me correctly, Jill decided to part from the group to search for more survivors across the world, hence her work in Chicago. Can't wait for more info, though.

Oh and one more thing, Vamp: they already took parts of "Code: Veronica" for "Resident Evil: Apocalypse." If memory serves me right, I think I remember Paul W. S. Anderson saying that he was going to take parts of "Resident Evil 5" for "Afterlife." He also said that there WILL BE SURPRISES... Not sure if he meant characters but if he did let's just hope he meant Jill Valentine and they are purposely not announcing Guillory yet for that reason....

*CBF crosses fingers*

Yes good point Vamp. I never read the novels or played the games but I'm not at all ignorant or oblivious to the stories. But it was confusing when Jill, Carlos and LJ show up at the end of RE2, posed as Umbrella employees in an SUV, to allow Alice to escape the compound, then they are all in RE3 with Claire Redfield's convoy - all except Jill? Like, wait, huh..? Where did Jill go? Anyway thx for explaining that. It's nice when there are explanations to the obvious, just sucks that it was so obvious in the film but was left unanswered.

Anyway, I just read the plot for "Extinction" on Wikipedia, and I guess I totally forgot that Claire's convoy hijacked an Umbrella Corp. helicopter in Las Vegas when Alice stayed behind to battle that mutated scientist in the facility with the White Queen. So, as a possible answer to my earlier question, to avoid a seemingly obvious plot hole, Claire Redfield and her convoy of survivors are in a helicopter in the air the last time we see them in RE3. And we know that they were headed to Alaska to seek an infection-free population. This could be easily attainable from Las Vegas to Alaska if they had enough gas in that helicopter (I think), and maybe the film would not spend much time there? Maybe it's where we meet Chris? Just a possible scenario, which would make sense and tie together with the last film.

I'm pretty sure that they're going to include part of Alaska, or at least talk about it. I sense a "Resident Evil: Code: Veronica" arc coming through. I really hope that Sienna returns, though. In the "Resident Evil: Extinction" book, it explained a lot about what the movie didn't due to casting issues. Jill was off in Chicago working with another band of survivors. I really hope Guillory decides to return.

I am happy that Ali Larter is returning as Claire, and that the Alice clones will be back to finish the story from the cliffhanger at the end of "Extinction." As far as the new cast goes, Shawn Roberts will be playing Wesker, who was also in "Extinction," and Miller will be Chris Redfield. As far as the Jill Valentine and Leon S. Kennedy characters, from what I have heard rumors and otherwise, they will not be appearing. Which sucks because Jensen Ackles was rumored to be cast as Leon and Sienna Guillory has yet to return due to Jill being alive at the end of "Apocalypse." My biggest question regarding this plot synopsis is the Claire Redfield/Alaska story arc, which began in "Extinction" and should draw out in "Afterlife." Pretty sure we will see the Alice/Japan arc. But the fact they are talking about LA here instead of Alaska confuses me....

The Bioshock film aint even begun casting choices yet, Chad.
Sometimes IMDB, put up the rumoured casting choices on the net.
It happens, but he would be a nice touch

I reckon the trap is that Chris is a traitor and he leads them to Umbrella to get caught unexpectdely in the trap, and before the trap happens he begins to have 2nd doubts and prevents the trap from happening, which it probably already has.

Knowing Anderson it sounds like something he would do

Yep, it's finally about Wesker. Look up Shawn Roberts on imdb and it says he's Wesker in RE: Afterlife (2010 release). Defiuitely means Wentworth Miller is Chris Redfield :) I'm so stoked. Finally, a good RE movie that has cool characters.

Yeah that's weird Vamp, considering Wesker has to do with Chris and Jill, unless they are completely changing it cause of Alice.

Ooo and if you look up Wentworth Miller it says he's playing Chris Redfield. AND JACK IN BIOSHOCK!!!!!!!!!!! Vis where are you? lol
