Vin Diesel and Rob Cohen Return for XXX

Source:  Variety
Movie PictureColumbia Pictures is in negotiations with producer Joe Roth to develop a new version of xXx, and plans to bring back Vin Diesel as star and Rob Cohen as director.

According to Variety, the pair teamed on the 2002 original, which starred Diesel as Xander Cage, an extreme sports enthusiast who gets drafted by the government for a dangerous mission.

Roth controls the property because the original film was made by his Revolution Studios, which was also behind XXX: State of the Union, a sequel that starred Ice Cube and was directed by Lee Tamahori.

The third incarnation has a title, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, but no script.

Diesel has agreed to return and so has Cohen, but talent deals won't be worked out until the studio pact is made.

No word on when production will begin.

xXx was cool. Ice Cube's take wasn't so bad... But they killed him off in between films. They should have gotten a chic to be xXx. Michelle Rodriguez would so kick ass. I can't wait.

hopefully Rob Cohen can do this one right
they had no right to put Ice Cube in XXX:State of the Union
he really screwed up the Mummy 3
Vin Diesel can at least try to get his career forwards instead of backwards

Triple X was a 100% guilty pleasure..."XXX: State of the Union" was nothing but a "Die Hard" Redux plot....not sure about a "xXx"...Makes me laugh!

I missed Vin. Good acting in Babylon A.D. but a disappointment of a movie. Then there's Fast and Furious. Hope they do justice there. I look 4ward to this one, with Rob back in the director's chair. However would like to see something fresh as well. Another Riddick would be a dream come true. =D

it doesn't need rebooted, it's fine with that title, just bringing him back is good enough.. they could make it work.. but i'm with Kwi, I would rather see another Riddick movie..

WOW can I ever skip this one over. The first XXX was really terrible and the second one I haven't even bothered with it...I'm glad to see Vin back on the screen though be could actually make better movies...

i dont think it's a prequel to the second one because in one of the special edition dvds for the first one, there is a mini movie which shows his death (although he is played by someone else). it's probably just redesigning the franchise.

Never seen the first or second. But if I may, maybe this is a sequel to the first and a prequel to the second. That'd explain his apparent death.

Interesting since they said that Cage was dead in the 2nd movie. Doesn't matter they can still make it work. I'm actually look forward to seeing Diesel reprise his role, don't screw this up.

Im down to see most of his sequels but itd be nice to see a new character, maybe its not his fault maybe his agent feels like hes out of new ones (minus the marvel villian he wants to play) but if he makes a Pacifier sequel we know hes done.

the first half of the original was awesome. then it went downhill. the sequel was disgustingly terrible(thats right, i said it) then again, what has ice cube done lately that has been anygood? this new version cuold be pretty sweet, as long as they do it right of course

The last scene in xxx 2 was totally crap, the 3d looked liked somehting from the early 90`s, seriously. what were they thinking back then?

lets al hope this new one will be waaaaaay better.
