CW Hands Out Six Early Pickups

Source:  The Hollywood Reporter
The CW Network is giving some early pickup presents for some of its big series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, CW has handed renewals for six of its series - Smallville, Supernatural, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, 90210 and the reality program America's Next Top Model.

"As we continue to build The CW Network as a destination for young women, these six shows have clearly contributed to strengthening our schedule and our brand identity," the CW entertainment president Dawn Ostroff said.

The new CW series Privileged still remains in doubt for a pickup as of this time.

When Supernatural first started, Kripke stated that he did not want Supernatural to be one of those shows that people would say 'that show should have ended years ago', instead he wanted to go out 'on top'. You never know what may happen, but even before the first season he had decided the show would only have a five year run. Maybe he will decide to make a movie after it is all said and done, I would go see it.

"I'm hearing that this will probably be the last time Supernatural will be renewed because they plan to end the series next season. It's sad but I understand, end when you're still hot!"

The creator of "Supernatural" (Eric Kripke) had already planned to make Season 5 the end of the series. So, the decision would have nothing to do with how "hot" it is. It's just that the overall story arc would take five years to be told.

I can't wait to see what Kripke has in mind for the last season.

I'm down with Zynthos. Smallville has really turned it around this year. New writers really is what the show needed. The story feels like it's moving along. Lana's gone now (THANK GOD). I wish she hadn't shown up this season in the first place. Clark just needs to frickin fly already....killin me here

I've watched Smallville. The first five seasons. I just couldn't take it anymore. The long drawn out plots were nerve racking. I'm sorry i still don't see the new direction and frankly, at this point i don't even care about the show anymore. Every thursday night i utter oh shit as well, but it's when i'm watching supernatural. Btw, i didn't mean to insult you, just don't like the show.

I`m hearing that this will probably be the last time Supernatural will be renewed because they plan to end the series next season. It`s sad but I understand, end when you`re still hot! Leave them wanting more, all that good stuff! Maybe we`ll see more of Jensen and Jared on the big screen which is nice. I`d love to see the projects they would do when they have the time to be able to pick from projects they don`t have to work around they`re tv schedule.

You know....this season of Smallville so far has been probably the best, reinvigorating the show. It's no surprise that they renewed it. I just think its funny that the people who don't watch the show are saying "I think it's time to kill that show off." Well you know if you watched the show from the beginning to now then you would know that it has taken a new direction. Clark is finally realizing that he can't just hide for that much longer. Clearly if you had watched this season you would know that everything is building up to the huge climax. Almost every Thursday night(that the show is on) I utter at least one or two "oh shit!" or in my mind say "oh yeah!/hell yeah!".

Sorry Tycam, i just hate Superman, the tv shows and the movies. Hate him. I think it's time to kill that show off. I'm surprised it lasted this long. If people out there are able to take this abuse that Smallville brings, then i'm really concerned that Heroes, another crappy show might be on for a while.

What the hell is wrong with the 2 people below me. Smallville/Superman lovers have to have patience with the series. they are trying not to screw it up. Smallville is my favorite show on T.V. and i've loved every single episode. LET SMALLVILLE LIVE ON.

The only good thing on the Cw are Supernatural and One Tree hill. Why are they bringing back that stupid Smallville. It's pointless. 8 years and this character still hasn't evolved. What a crappy show.

The second season of "Reaper" hasn't even aired yet, so that's why it's not on the list. Yet.
