The Descent 2 Moves Forward

Source:  The Hollywood Reporter
Get ready for some more spooky spelunking coming your way. The Hollywood Reporter says The Descent 2 is going forward with Celador Films and Pathe, both Britsh-run companies.

While Neil Marshall, who wrote, directed and produced The Descent, will produce the sequel, he's handing over the writing and directing reins. James Watkins wrote the sequel and The Descent editor Jon Harris will make his directorial debut with the sequel.

The Descent stars Shauna McDonald and Natalie Mendoze are both set to return alongside Gavan O'Herlihy, Joshua Dallas, Anna Skellern, Douglas Hodge and Krysten Cummings. The story will take place right after the first, with the survivor of the first film going back into the caves with a rescue party trying to find the rest of her group.

The sequel is being budgeted at $10 million and the eight-week shoot will take place on location in Scotland and also in London's Ealing Studios. No start date has been announced.

Hmm, I liked the first film, um but everyone died from what I cant recall and sarah dreamed escaping as the film ended with her in the cave and her dead daughter singing happy birthday to her. I thought she snapped

If it weren't for their boobs and long hair, I'd swear they acted like a bunch of testosterone filled guys in the first movie. Trust me, those are the kind that enjoys bitch slappin'. But, then again, they'd bitch slap ya back...so you bitch slap them back with a two-by-four.

WTF! The first one was pretty decent, definately not bad though. But this story seems a little stupid...she really thinks that her friends lived???
it showed almost all of them die in the first one, so...
...once again WTF, I will see it, but I think that the story is going to be very slim and not well thought out.

The Descent was released in THE USA with approximately a minute cut from the end. I saw both versions of the film...& I never thought it was all that!! When I saw it in theaters, I felt like I was ripped off!

very tru g5 but she was killing them things like she was trained all her life for it, and the only thing i question at this point is the plotline of them going back in looking for the rest of there group, they know the rest bit the dust so who are they looking for? or do they just want tha bodies?

Yeah i enjoyed the movie but i am questioning how did she survive? she was on her knees looking at her "dead" daughter and as the camera zooms out you can hear the creatures screaming and calling...so that makes me think they were closing in...but thats just me

The original was a pretty good spooky movie for my wife and I to watch together, however with all of the "imagined" stuff near the end who is to say any of what we saw for the last 15 or so minutes actuall took place. I shall see this to determine just how they pull it off.

The Descent was badass! A great film, loved every minute of it. I agree with Scrubby, about the ending but whatever, going back into that cave should prove entertaining.

'Scuze me for being a stick in the mud but...as I remember at the end of the film, there were no survivors. The main character imagined finally getting out when she was actually still under ground and then was met by her daughter, who was ALREADY dead. All of the other girls became 'dweller jerkie' for those inbread humanoid roaches. Dont get me wrong...the movie was a slight bit better than okay, but I think they should leave it at that.
