Warner Bros.' New Line Cinema has hired veteran screenwriter Wesley Strick to pen the relaunch of the
A Nightmare on Elm Street series.
The original
Nightmare on Elm Street was written and directed by Wes Craven and released in 1984. The new project will keep the high school setting and delve deeper in the psychology of nightmares and Freddy Krueger himself.
A Nightmare on Elm Street comes to theaters April 16 from Warner Bros. Pictures.

But Jackie Earle Hayley, ain't worth seeing this film for, i'll watch it online, because i knowing that i'm walking in to see a remake of my fav film, will juss piss me right off.
Give it time, when i get to Hollywood, i'll make 'A Dream On Elm St' this will remake will then cease to exist. :)
I'm really glad they told me that, because up at first I was working under the impression that the actor was running around the set leaving a trail of eviscerated children in his wake. Seriously.
LMAO, listen to how this scene proceeds to happen within the film...

including a side-shot of actor Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger himself below. The scene that was being shot must have been a flashback sequence in which Krueger sans make-up (or killer blades on his fingers) is playing with some pre-school kids at the Badham pre-school (also seen below). Note how the color of his shirt is different than in previous ELM STREET flicks (brown/beige versus green/red) and the white picket fence. Classic.
The scene apparently featured Freddy playing hide and seek with the kids in the playground (nice), as they stole his hat and gloves. Every now and again, he'd pick up a gardening tool with his right hand and chase the kids around (wink, wink). Oh Freddy!!

Can i get a WTF? EPIC FAIL
YAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH
At least he's wearing a stripped shirt.
I thought it was John Cho at first.
Still looking forward to the film as the last few were pretty poor.
