Will We See Will Smith as Hancock Again?

Source:  JoBlo
Will Smith's summer blockbuster Hancock raked in the dough this summer taking in $228 million at the domestic box office, and Smith is talking sequel. JoBlo caught up with Smith while he was promoting his upcoming film Seven Pounds, and he said a sequel is "definitely" coming.

Smith told the site that he felt there were many characters still to be explored in this world that would be possibly explored in the sequel. It wasn't clear if director Peter Berg or co-stars Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman would return for the second film.

We'll surely keep you posted on any developments on this potential sequel as soon as we have more information.

I, unlike most, would like to see a sequel. I think there is a lot they could do with it.

I assume another film would explain Hancock's origins better, with the first film being the 'introduction' in a continuing franchise. I'm up for another anyhow.

hancock was alright, it was like junk food for the movie fan.
nothing groundbreaking or awe-inspiring about it, but it was fun enough to kill 90 minutes or so.
i don't think i would see a sequal in the theatre but i would definitely rent it when it comes out.

eh... a maybe for me.

BTW, when they had the talk about being "made in pairs" who the fuck made them? Aliens? Because that would be a lot better explanation than some vagaries about angels/gods.

I too did not appreciate the vague explanation for his powers. I would like to see some kind of Super-Villain. There was this great dynamic in the first one where people openly accepted Hancock as an aspect of life (even when responding negatively) It was better that the movie opened with everything already in play rather than going through an origin story. We could see a whole universe come off of this thing, with new and original characters that might become classics.

Yeah really don't care read the proposal for the 2nd film and its sounds complete utter whack, the only thing i would be interesting is Will Smith kicking his dad's ass, rumour has it that the father's role is set to be Freeman but who the hell knows.

I think Will Smith is starting to over-rate himself in the movie industry game.
Confirming films before the studios is just making himself sound ignorant and argogant*

I don't mind if people liked the movie, but calling it "spectacular" just means you need to read a dictionary. Wait, aren't you the same guy who thought Twilight would be "masterful" but gave it 2.5 stars?...hmmm...Learn the definition of words before you blurt them out. I bet you haven't even read Watchmen. Ya wanna know why? Because anybody who reads Watchmen won't think Twilight is "irresistable"...there's another word you need to look up

Well I guess the first one was spectacular, I really liked it. but I dunno if the second would be necessary.

The only good thing about "FootPenis" was the brilliant acting done by Jason Bateman. Will Smith was alright but the whole story line about he and Charlize Theron's character being gods or some shit that loose there powers when they are close was stupid. Make a sequal keep Bateman, loose Theron and give "FootPenis" a real bad ass foe to fight and you may have somrthing...

excellent news, it was quite a good film, i didnt like the corny stuff like the stupid french kid and the random lawyer (his friend). But there is serious potential in the next one for an awesome bad guy, more serious in the next one plz.

I just watched the first one tonight. It was actually a very enjoyable film. Nothing in the way of an epic, but a very human story about a non-human man. Jason Bateman is the real hero in that movie, but Will Smith creates a great character.

Hancock I thought was a pretty decent "superhero" movie. It was decently written and strayed from the norm of regular superhero movies. I think a sequel would not be as good as the first because the whole premise of the first one was that he was a bum alcoholic superhero who screwed up more than he did good and by the end of the film he rehabilitated himself and was a true superhero. What would the second one be about now that he is sober and actually doing some good?
