Rpin Suwannath will make his directorial debut in Walden Media's adaptation of John Christopher novel
The Lotus Caves, according to
Variety.
The sci-fi thriller is set in the year 2068, with humans living on the moon in vast colonies of airtight bubbles. Two teens break out and embark on a quest to find magical, legendary caves.
Suwannath began his career interning at George Lucas' Industrial Light & Magic, working on visual effects for
Batman Forever. Suwannath incorporated his pre-visualization techniques, now an industry standard, in the
Chronicles of Narnia and
X-Men films, as well as
Mr. and Mrs. Smith and the
Matrix sequels.
