Hugo Weaving Waiting for The Hobbit

Source:  Moviehole
Hugo Weaving hasn't been officially cast in the HobbitWe reported here last week that director Guillermo del Toro confirmed that Hugo Weaving will reunite with Andy Serkis and Ian McKellen in The Hobbit in their roles originated in The Lord of the Rings trilogy." Well according to Moviehole, this is news to not just you, but also to Weaving!

Weaving said he's interested in returning as Elrond, but that he isn't officially on board, because he hasn't been spoken to yet.

"I knew that if and when it happened I'd get a call and we'd chat about it, but I haven't spoken to anyone about it. Someone said to me 'I hear you're doing the Hobbit?' I said 'Well, um, probably', they said "No, no. you've signed on'. I haven't actually talked to anyone about it. Doesn't mean I won't be doing it, [I'm] just not onboard yet."

The Hobbit is scheduled to be released in December of 2011, while The Hobbit Sequel will be released in December of 2012.

thanks for that K-Man, if id have taken 5 minutes i would have found out myself, thanks again for sving me the time lol, but i still stand by what i said, i hope they read them all a get a good idea, so we can see a lot more in the films, i mean lets be honest there was till plenty missing in the LOTR's films that were in the books, i still excepted them to be awwsome films tho

TwinPac1 it's the same writers as the lord of the rings which is Fran Walsh, Philipa Boyens and Peter Jackson. Guillermo del toro is also helping with the writing for this film. That is why this movie, unlike so many other highly anticipated movies we have seen lately, will actually be good because they have four exceptional writers on board. The Hobbit is going to be awesome.

The Silmarillion would make for an interesting film, as it's set before the LOTR lore. By the time we've read this, I assume Weaving's probably already onboard. Continuity is always good, even if this is a prequel.

I really hope, whoever is writing the /screenplay for this has read all of Tolkien's works based in Middle-Earth, The Silmarilloin, Unfinished Tales even the 12 volumes of The History of Middle-Earth & the 2 volumes of The History of The Hobbit, if they do & understand it all this should be a epic pair of films & should easily do as well as The Return of the KIng
