Rene Balcer will be producing two new crime dramas on NBC and Fox.

NBC picked up a crime drama that centers on a bipolar forensic psychiatrist. It is inspired by the work of well-known forensic psychiatrist Park Dietz, who has served as a consultant on the Law & Order series. A frequent witness for the prosecution at high-profile criminal trials, The Hollywood Reporter describes Dietz as "part medical examiner, part private detective, part scholar of the bizarre."

Fox is set for a cop show, directed and executive produced by Jonathan Mostow.

Both projects come from NBC Universal TV Studio, and have a fall 2007 airing scheduled.
