Kevin Spacey Confirms That He Will Be in the Next Superman

Source:  The Belfast Telegraph
Kevin SpaceyKevin Spacey will once again transform into Superman’s arch-foe, Lex Luthor, in the next Superman film, tentatively titled Superman: The Man of Steel. The news comes buried near the bottom of an interview with Spacey done by The Belfast Telegraph.

The interview focuses on Spacey’s career as a theatrical actor, and his work as the artistic director of the Old Vic theatre. But it does comment on the fact that Spacey will be returning to the role of Luthor in the follow-up to 2006’s Superman Returns.

What this means on the heels of the news that Warner Brothers is looking for a “darker tone” to the next film in the Superman franchise is unclear. It is similarly uncertain if Brandon Routh, who played Superman/Clark Kent, or director Bryan Singer will be back.

Has it occurred to anyone else that Darkness300 might be mentally retarded?

Look at his profile, seriously. His comments read like "why do you people care enough about movies to talk about them beyond "AWW Sick" and 'Fucking Gay' ".

His description says it all I guess

"Im 15. I love action movies...

...and I hate dialogue or thinking about things like people talking on screen. It hurts my brain, but it's not cool like when somebody in a movie hurts someone...aw man, that's sweet."

Spacey stick to theater and other films. Just don't come back for the part of Lex, I thought this was to be rebooted.

They don't even have a script yet bro. They're too busy asking Mark Millar what he's writing three years from now so they can get to work on the movie now. Fuckers. I'm still pissed about this ridiculous War Heroes deal. The second issue isn't even available and they're working on a movie.

Good man, Spacey. You're the one thing that made Superman Returns worth watching.

A darker tone for Superman? How! Common WB. Let the Batman handle the darkness, along with the other comic characters THAT HAVE ALWAYS CARRIED A DARK TONE!

Restart Superman. That's the best option.

I think Spacey didn't get the news that Superman is going to be rebooted...

Lex NEEDS to be in the superman movies, just like magneto was in all 3 x-films and dr. doom has been in both FFs. I'm glad spacey is coming back(?). However, yes, we need a primary SUPER-villain, with lex in the background, maybe running for president.

I just hope DC Comics and Warner Bros. will add some of Superman's old enemies in this movie besides Lex Luthor. Like for example Darkseid, Bizarro, or maybe even the living metal Metallo so it could make the movie even more cooler than before.

It truly disappointing that Warner Brothers and DC don't have any type of pulse on their fanbase. How Brilliant would 8 seasons of Smallville be as a lead-in to a new Superman franchise? WB already missed the mark on the Superman reboot and they are about to totally kill it again.

I'm all for Kevin Spacey coming back, I just don't want it to be written as an emulation of Gene Hackman's Lex Luthor, which I felt it was in Returns, however Spacey removed it from that and made it his own.

i am really annoyed .. they should just get on with the sequel..we had to wait 20yrs for returns... and now all this rubbish.. if they want to make it dark ... then so be it and i'm shore kevin spacey can pull off a dark lex

No, I mean yeah Supes can die, and it would work, but I was joking about the camby "?" question mark ending.

I sure hope it's a reboot. Returns ended the Donner series very well, I think it would be too much of a stretch to try to build more story off of what happened in Returns.
Reboot.

As long as millar does the scipt, i'll be happy. Spacey gave us a great lex, so it's great he's coming back...or is he, as err pointed out

"the follow-up to 2006's Superman Returns." So now they're calling it a follow up instead of a reboot? Make ur damn minds! lol
