See Pictures from Tom Cruise's Valkyrie!

Source:  United Artists
United Artists announced today that principle photography on Bryan Singer's latest project Valkyrie has stared in Berlin. Here are two photos from the film.

Tom Cruise's Valkyrie
Valkyrie stars Tom Cruise as Col. Claus von Stauffenberg, a man who led an assassination plot on Adolph Hitler's life in 1944. The film also stars Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, Patrick Wilson, Stephen Fry, Tom Wilkinson, Carice van Houten, and Eddie Izzard.

The "July 20th plot" on Hitler's life is one of the most heroic but least known episodes of World War Two. Severely wounded in combat, Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg returns from Africa to join the German Resistance and help create Operation Valkyrie, the complex plan that will allow a shadow government to replace Hitler's once he is dead. But fate and circumstance conspire to thrust Stauffenberg from one of many in the plot to a double-edged central role. Not only must he lead the coup and seize control of his nation's government ... He must kill Hitler himself.

Singer stated, Valkyrie tells a story that is not only exciting but also important. It's something that Chris McQuarrie and I have wanted to do for some time. I can't imagine shooting it anywhere else but on location in Germany, and I'm thrilled that we were able to get Tom Cruise to play Col. Stauffenberg."

Valkyrie opens on August 8th, 2008.

Looks like it could be a good film. There are some great actors in it. But why, oh why did Tom Cruise have to play Stauffenberg? There are many other fine actors better suited for the role. For one thing, Stauffenberg was a tall man - Cruise is rather lacking in inches!

I think Tom Cruise will do justice to the role
But everybody will agree with me here that if
Christopher Reeve was alive and well he would have been a spitting image of the strapping Colonel.
Christopher Reeve resembled Von Stauffenberg 98%
One thing I do not want the director to leave out in the movie is the other failed attempts by Major General Henning von Tresckow.
Adolf was one lucky Wolf of a man.

They are granted permission to shoot anywhere in Germany/Berlin except the place where Stauffenber (Cruise's character) got executed...

Oh, didn't see the stuff above the pictures. They could just be filming scenery, or some of the non-Cruise parts of the movie. That or the German government got in trouble for persecuting him due to his (and I use this next word loosly) religeon.

Hmmm.. Without knowing much about this movie (dont care either) Tom lookes like he's in a movie about either the Military, the Aryan Nation or a Gay Porn flick!!!

Sounds interesting. I'll have to see trailers before I even consider this one though. Also, Aero, nowhere in this story do they say that it is being filmed in Germany.

I guess I missed something - last I heard the Germans had banned Tom Cruise filming in their country.

The likeness would be dead on if Cruise didn't have such a big nose. But I got to give him some credit, he looks like a badass with an eyepatch.
