Justice League Is Officially on Hold

Source:  IESB.net
It turns out that as reported here, the Justice League of America movie has been put on hold - at least until June 2008. IESB.net has a source involved with the pre-production of the film in Australia, who says that the word has come down to officially put the film on hold.

Their source says that Justice League of America will be put on hold until the WGA strike is completed at the earliest. Last week, the crew was told to prepare for the worst in terms of the future of the film, and it seems the worst has come to past.

Officially, Justice League of America has not been cancelled, just delayed. However, it is certainly possible that the film will end up in limbo indefinitely.

Justice League of America would have combined the greatest heroes from DC Comics, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, the Flash and the Martian Manhunter, all in one film. Casting rumors for the film have run rampant over the past few months, although at this time Warner Bros. has still not officially confirmed any of the actors who had been offered roles in the film.

also there are way too many big films coming out right now. i think the film might lose some of its money maki9ng status a bit better than it would if it were a huge film targeting people our age and not young children and came out around the same time as a number of smaller films. That would also allow them to have enough money to make a sequel if it was made good

we said about waiting til the solo movies are over and then add bale and routh simply because to date they are the best Batmaan and Superman. More bale than routh tho. We do wanna see a justice league. we didnt like the direction this film was headed. Targeting young children. thats not the type of film we want to see form the justice league. i want this movie to come out but right now and the direction it was headed in was outrageous.

Why would you want Bale and Routh in the movie? To confuse people even more? This is seaparate from the solo movies, that's the whole point! And what does it matter Justice League comes out before the solo movies?! It's not like they're on the fast track! I actually wanna see a JLA movie as long as it's taken seriously. Maybe this is a good thing that it's delayed so they can think things over and do it right, but I don't want to see it in limbo for good. Ya think the solo movies'll be any better? Wonder Woman's been in limbo for I don't know how long, and even Joss Whedon bowed out as the writer. And what IS the fan base for the rest of the heroes, as far as a movie goes? Sure they can do it for the fans, but there's not enough fans to make them shine at the box office. Green Lantern and Flash maybe, but not like Superman and Batman. At least with Justice League you get them all together, including Supes and Bats. I read that they want to make it LOTR epic, so it's got that goin' for it. And what do you mean Hollywood has destroyed the DCU? It's doin just fine to me.

I agree Celuloid, Hollywood has already ruined th DC universe. Maybe someone there in Hollywood will think about this and do it right! Wait..did I use Hollywood and think in the same sentence?

they ruined "The Fantastic Four" by targeting families as their key audience.. which is most likely what they would have done with this.. I agree, wait for all the series to finish, then start production on this..

thank god. they need to wait until the batman series ends and everything and then get Bale Routh and all them to come and do the movie. with a better director than someone who makes films like Happy Feet. Nolan would do good. Sam Raimi would be superior as well. He has an eye for comic movies.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH God the tragedy, the horror...that Justice League is officially on hold....NOT!!!

At lest somewhere in Hollywood, someone got smart & wants to make sure this is done the right way, the correct way and not made into a huge mess like "Elektra" or "The Fantastic Four" which became laughable DC Comic adaptations!!!

fair enough with the wga strike, it would make alot more sense for bale and routh to star, but maybe just a batman superman film, like in the poster in i am legend. anyone catch it?

well i think they should wait and get a good cast.then they can have a spin off into superman/batman.
p.s. bananaz it's superman/batman not superman vs. batman.
i think that christopher nolan should take a break after the dark knight and after a while direct justice league with a good cast.

It's just as well. They were going to aim it at a family demographic, which would have cheapened the characters' images, and sacrificed virtually all cinematic integrity. I'd just as soon see seperate films for The Flash and GL. BTW, bananaz, the billboard in I Am Legend is an inside joke. For about fifteen years, a project along the lines of "Batman/ Superman" has been kicked around but never followed through on. As of right now, there are no official plans. ANd didn't you hear? Man OF Steel is headed the way of this JLA movie.

This movie CAN be good but they have to set it up with two or three more movies and a set up origin DVD
like after the Dark knight comes...
THE MAN OF STEEL, that sets up batman vs. superman (as seen in I AM LEGEND)
then comes the JUSTICE LEAGUE

I know I'm a genius
