Bill Nighy to Play Rufus Scrimgeour in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?

Source:  The Leaky Cauldron
Bill Nighy to Play Rufus ScrimgeourIn a story from The Leaky Cauldron it appears that Bill Nighy (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End) has been cast in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

The only problem is that we don't know in which role.

"I don't think I'm allowed to say it but I'm going to be in the next Harry Potter film," Nighy says. "I won't say which character, but he's a goodie. I just got the gig."

It seems the actor most likely will be playing the character of Rufus Scrimgeour, though nothing is confirmed.

oh and random thought, but anyone agree they should have started making each book into two movies at Goblet instead of now. i mean from number 4 on there was so much material in each book that i think it would have made sense.

he is one of my favorite actors, so this is sweet. but yeah Scrimgeour did seem to have a bigger part in number 6 then 7, so they must be taking some artist license with these or something. either way whenever i read any scene with Scrimgeour in it, i pictue Nighy so that is cool.

I haven't read it in years, but I guarantee you there are people with the book fresher in their minds that could tell you. There's that scene where Harry and Hermione get captured, but the death eaters don't know it's him...

Off topic, but mentioned earlier:
Where do you think they'll split the films? Like Sly said, the book wasn't written to be chopped in half.

Where's Solomon when you need him?

That's true, too... We'll just have to wait and see, I guess.

Although, Grindelwald was very young in those flashbacks...

I concur with Duke.

Oh shit... I don't know why but I kept thinking they were talking about 6...lol.

In that case, Vamp's got it I think.

I put my money on him playing Grindelwald in flashbacks. Scrimgeour was a big part of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," too, so why would they disclude him from it, and THEN introduce him for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2?"

There are a few climaxes midway through the story that would make a good splitting point. They're just going to have to beef them up a bit.

I still don't get how they're gonna successfully split the 7th book into 2 movies. I mean it ain't like the Matrix 2&3 which was written to accomodate a pseudo ending halfway through, as was "Dead Man's Chest" (2006) & "At World's End" (2007). The book was written as a completed piece, and of the 3 previous films (Half-Blood/Phoenix/Goblet), this had the most data that could be cut out w/out ruining the story, seeing as a large chunk of it is just pointless exploring through the woods.

OMG, what if they replaced Ralph Fiennes!!! That would be the tits...I'm sick of Voldemort acting and moving like a coked-out drag queen chomo.

This has been speculated over for a few years now. Hes the obvious choice and would be amazing in the part. Aberforth has already been cast, so my moneys on Scrimgeour.

Never read the books so I am not familiar with the character, but he will do well, he does in each part he chooses.
