Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely Set for Captain America

Source:  Variety
Marvel Studios has signed on Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely to handle the script for The First Avenger: Captain America, which will be directed by Joe Johnston.

According to Variety, the red-white-and-blue clad hero with the mighty indestructible shield came to prominence right after the invasion of Pearl Harbor as the U.S. declared war on Japan. The hero is the Marvel character most closely associated with the United States.

The property will provide an interesting litmus test on the world's appetite for an all-American hero by the time the film is released and distributed by Paramount in 2011.

The production date has not been set.

Cool. Hoping to see Red Skull in there. And tyring to think about who would make the most believable Cap.

But i was hoping either Ezekiel Stane, or maybe the Hammer would be the bad guys for the second, if their going for realistic that is.

theman2, do you mean mandarin? Cuz I already had a feeling they would use him, although he's not very realistic.

I say David Wenham as Bucky. he was great in Lotr, and in 300. He should be a good Bucky, just make his hair brown/darker.

Brad Pitt for Cap, and Karl Urban, or Viggo for Thor. As for Djimon Hounsou, i have to be honest, that's is great casting, cuz he is a great actor, and I always like the black Panther. didn't know he would be in it.

You didn't need to post your comment twice, Joker with 3s. I don't have to do research to know Brendan Fraser would make a horrible Cap, cuz ya know, I actually know my shit about both comics and movies.

I knew who Karl Urban is, the point I was trying to make with that comment was that nobody will be interested in a Thor movie if they don't get a good, well known actor, and Karl Urban doesn't fit the bill

Brendan Fraser would be a horrible Cap. I'd rather u tell me they're won't be a Captain America movie, then tell me that they're making one and he's in it. lol.
What's everyone's obsession with Karl Urban. He's really not that great, yeah he's been some great movies but he's never been the one to carry the movies. He's always been an add-on actor and I don't think he could star in a decent movie, let alone a blockbuster. Before any of u kids get your panties wet, Yes, I did see Pathfinder... not impressed.

Sorry agent but your wrong, brad is too small, he's a great actor, but in general hes not right for the role, you really need to look at some captain america comics. Viggo is also a great actor, but to be honest he's a midget, only an inch taller than me, he's fucking 5'11, did you ever read comics. And bringing it back to Brendan fraser, have you bothered to watch any of his movies, any at all, he's a wonderful actor, do ur research before you actually speak. and karl urban is set to be in star trek by the way, he will be dr. mccoy, he was also in lord of the rings. Brad is great but he can't be cap, i'd rather see him as cap's sidekick bucky. I'm calling it right now, Brendan Fraser will be captain america, Karl Urban will be thor, Djimon Hounsou will be black panther, who is said to be in the avengers. o and if and when they do another fantastic four, replacing Michael Chiklis with vin diesel. and to be honest you truly suck at casting.

Have you ever seen Bourne Supremacy, Doom, The Chronicles of Riddick, or Lord of the Rings? Karl Urban was in each one of them and he is playing 'Bones' in the new Star Trek movie. He has been in many other movies, but I think these are the ones you would recognize VIS.

As far as Brad Pitt is concerned, I have never liked him very much. I could care less what anyone does in their personal life as long as it does not effect mine. I have disliked him longer than you have been alive, so I do not think I fit in your category of 'sad sap'.

To "Th3 Jok3r," who uses 3s in place of Es for whatever reason: Brendan Fraser would make a terrible Captain America. Just because he plays a badass archaeologist all the time, doesn't mean he can pull it off. He'd look terrible with blonde hair, and most of the time he looks way tired, like he A)hasn't slept in a week or B)is high. As for Karl Urban......who the fuck is Karl Urban? Nuff said. You are a terrible caster. Viggo for Thor. Look at him in Lord of the Rings and imagine that with blonde hair...perfect.

And why not Brad Pitt for Cap? Is it because he's too much of a pretty boy? Well guess what, he's badass. He's got the right build, the right hair, the right face...if I didn't know any better I'd say the Cap creators looked into the future, saw Brad Pitt, and modeled Cap after him. Prime examples of his bad assnes: Troy and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. I bet you base your opinion on him on his personal life like so many other sad saps before you.

I really like the Karl Urban idea. I think he is an underrated actor. Please no Brad Pitt! If he is cast as C.A. I will not be seeing it no matter who plays Thor. Viggo would be good and so would Thomas Jane.

No if's, and's or buts about this, first off,the person they need to pick to be captain america is bredan fraser, he, 6'3, all american, dye his hair blond and he can nail the role, he definitly has the acting chops for it, and he can play that whole disconnected from society type of role, i mean cap will be thrown from the 1940's into the 2000's, he'll have to do it more like the ultimates captain america with a little bit of the original cap in there, as for thor they need to pick Karl urban, he could bulk up, and if he's not built enough they can always add on like they do for hellboy, honestly i would have rather seen Dwayne the rock Johnson, but unfortunately he's to dark and it would look ridiculous if they did all the make-up to and hair dying to make him look like thor, urban is easier and still a good choice. thor's character needs to be a little over dramatic considering he is a god, he has to be over the top because lets face it he has nothing in common with real people, he's a fu#king god. now if anyone disagrees with either of the choices watch a bunch of there movies and u'll see why there perfect.

If Brad Pitt is cast as Thor i'm going to burn my entire Thor comics collection including my Journey into Mystery #83 comic, because the image will be tarnished and ruined forever.

But I breath easy because Marvel Studios wouldnt want that pansy anywhere near the character.

Who cares if the budget be bigger they have the money. You need someone like that as Thor and i think Brad Pitt would be awesome in that role. Two movies made me think Thor with him and his badass persona with long hair of course Troy and Legends of the Fall.

Pitt should not be Thor, the budget for the Avengers would be crazy. Money aside, I just can see Karl Urban doing it better. Sorry.
