Variety reports that Fox 2000 has tapped Mike Nichols (The Graduate) to direct and Joe Penhall (The Road) to write Deep Water.

The film will be an adaptation of the Patricia Highsmith novel from 1957.

Deep Water sees a couple in a failed marriage. In trying to make it work the husband allows his wife to share their bedroom. Suddenly, the people she is sharing it with begin dying.
