Is Slumdog Millionaire Writer Simon Beaufoy Writing a Second Wolverine Film?

Source:  Ain't It Cool News
While we're just over a month away from the anticipated X-Men Origins: Wolverine spin-off film, some details have emerged that a possible sequel is being developed. An Ain't It Cool News scooper wrote in from the Bradford International Film Festival, where Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire screenwriter Simon Beaufoy revealed he has been hired to write a X-Men Origins: Wolverine sequel.

i'm currently working at the bradford international film festival in the UK, and tonight we had simon beaufoy, screenwriter of slumdog millionaire doing a screentalk.

anyway he dropped a bit of a scoop, hes been employed to write the script for "wolverine 2" a film

i didnt actually realise was even in the pipeline.

he commented that while he was apprehensive about the project (claiming to not even know what a wolverine was!) his agent pursuaded him to take it on.

he clarified that working on a film thats successor has yet to be finished was a strange experience, and one that he wasnt sure he was comfortable with. anyway, i read your site everyday and figured id send this interesting little tidbit over,

adam

Plans for a sequel or Beaufoy's involvement have not been confirmed yet at this time, but we'll be sure to update you on any news on this potential new film.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine will be released on May 1.

My take on Wolverine at this point: "It looks cool. I have a feeling that the multitude of characters will make it difficult for the film to be good."

There, I managed to express a position on a film I haven't seen without making any statements that would have had to have been grounded by viewing the actual movie. And my point was still made. Presumptions are the worst thing anyone can do when it comes to films.

idk comrade, hate to go against u cuz i normally agree with most of ur view points and wut not, but i felt that spider-man 3 would be awesome, i felt that x-men 3 would be amazing. i felt wrong on both counts but still with all the trailers and hype goin on around those movies, i just had a feelin that it was gunna be great like the prior two movies in both franchise, again i was wrong. and now i feel dumb.

How can you even "feel" it will be great? You haven't seen more than a few snippets of dialogue and some action scenes! You're guessing, you can't have an opinion on something you haven't experienced!

that is stupid. my mom might as well write the script, cuz apparently she knows more about the character then the guy they want to write it. this makes no sense, y hire someone who doesn't care, and y replace the guy who wrote the first when the first isn't even out yet? i sincerely hope this is not true.

It would be better if they just made a Deadpool movie instead. And about what joekerr2e said,I would really like that link about electro to be true.

OFF TOPIC AGAIN: Clockwork, just google "Spiderman villains leaked 4 & 5" and look at all the junk that pops up from the 23 March to today. Even rumors on Sam trying to get Mickey Rourke for the movie. I'm hoping this gets booted down as a rumor, soon! If they confirm it, I'm done with the Spider. Freakin' PG13 Carnage will suck ass... mark my words.

Are you sure he was hired to write "Wolberine2"? If he doesn't even know what a wolverine is then I think he should give up the project.

Comrade, I said that because I personnaly feel it will be great and if it turns out to be bad than all I am is wrong which I have no problem admiting. I do not know why that statement from anyone would bother you.

The first one LOOKS good. Twisted, no offense, but I hate it when people say of upcoming films "I know it will be great" even on films where greatness is almost guaranteed (which is not the case with Woverine, it could suck big mutton-chopped balls)

Does'nt that seem a bit premature. I am sure Wolverine will be great, but talk of a second film when the first has yet to be seen seems a little rediculous.

The way Hollywood is run, I wouldn't be surprised if this was a reboot. :P

he just stated he doesn't even know what a wolverine is let alone the character. I mean, you've gotta be kidding me. Just because people liked his pretty normal and uplifting movie blah blah, he wants to make a comic book movie he knows nothing of, when the first one isn't even out yet?!?!?

Thank God this is a rumor.

role or movie? cuz hes not acting in it, i think we base him off of slumdog and assume he cant do the job but god knows what he can do but im wit clockwork its an origin didnt x-men come after?

I'll try not to take this news seriously, though...an article that doesn't know when to capitalize letters usually means epic fail

Joekerr: I hope that isn't true. They already fucked up Venom, my favourite character, I can't imagine what they would do to Carnage to turn him kiddie friendly! XP

Frankly, I'm not sure if I want a sequel even if the first movie is good. It's an origins movie. I don't see the point in making a sequel if we already had 3 X-Men movies set after that.

March 25th, 2009 11:27am
I hope not. Why would he go from doing a movie like Slumdog Millionaire, to this?

March 25th, 2009 11:22am
Wtf!We don't even know if this one is gonna be any good. And if it is i'd rather not see the guy who did fucking slumdog do the sequel.

Yeah, I'll believe it when it's officially released.

OFF TOPIC: Anyone hear the rumor of the Spiderman 4/5 script getting leaked? Just wondering if there's any truth to the rumor of Electro and Carnage being scripted for these two. Still don't like the idea of a PG13 Carnage movie.
