Our friends over at
IESB have gotten ahold of a new
Thor rumor that sees an additional character being added to the already existing script written by Mark Protosevich. The film, which will be directed by Kenneth Branagh, was originally set to take place in
Thor's native land of Asgard with no mention of the modern world. But that looks to have changed.
According to sources close to
IESB, the updated
Thor story will now include the character of Donald Blake, and his introduction is essential in how Marvel plans to tie this film into the
Iron Man and
The Avengers timelines. The initial plot will focus on the ancient times of the Norse Gods. But the ending will now explain how Donald Blake discovered the magical Norse hammer Mjolnir and essentially turned into Thor.
At this time, this is nothing more than a rumor. We will keep you updated as more information comes in.
Thor is set for a July 15th, 2010, release date.

i am however surprised no-one has yet said gerald butler but then maybe that'll b tooo hard cuz he aint any bigger than HHH, and i cant quite imagine him with bleach blond hair lol
no real comment on the daredevil movie cuz when it came out i was first in line to see and buy it, now watching it today compared to the rest of whats come out, it doesnt stand out as much.
but yeah there was really no aspect of that movie i liked at all. the directors cut was better but still not that good. Guy Pierce as DD, the guy who played Ben Urich was ok, i forget his name. I just picture someone a lil older. Jon Favreu as Foggy Nelson was good though i liked that alot.
Bullseye's a psychotic killer with an ego- the only impression Farell left was that of a goatee sporting, frenzied junkie. Not to mention all the pointless grimaces. To me a guy like...I dunno say Kevin Beacon would have done a better job ...well at least CF's
performace made your day, even if he didnt convince me.
I think Donald Blake will only come in at the end of the movie where he is seen possibly setting out to find what new role he (Thor) has in the world now that he is in this new form/body.
I don't know, I thought it was a pretty kickass movie, and that's saying something since the only other thing I've ever liked Ben Affleck in was "Gigli" (Which I seem to be VERY alone in). It could be that I like it because I'm not familiar with the DareDevil comics. lolz.
As far as Thor is concerned, I cannot think of anyone in Hollywood that could fit the role. They would have to look elsewhere...MAYBE..a pro or indy wrestler with the looks and the size to pull it off (providing this person could act). Face it, Thor is a God of considerable size. His height and build are what make him believable as the God of Thunder. To fit some shrimp like Brad Pit in the role would seriously offend the fans. These people don't seem to realize that we fans of these characters are the ones that will be first in line to buy tickets. We WILL be the opening day sales. We will be the ones who will tell are friends to pass on the piece of crap or go see the awesome movie. If Stan Lee is on the set, and if he has some control - let Thor be who we expect him to be!
On a sidenote : Affleck'd be a damn hypocrite if he returned for Daredevil...he admitted himself that wearing the costume was a source of embarrassment for him...besides it wouldn't do the movie or the character justice to have him back ; its been said before : what DD needs is a reboot. Not a fat Ben Affleck in a tight suit, no Colin Farell thinking he's in damn spoof movie. It needs a solid director, cast and script that can capture the dark, gritty essence that made Daredevil stand out over the years.
zombie, Thor is a great idea, expecially since it's tying into Avengers and he's a founding member. If done right, it could be epic
Zombie, for a long time people felt the same way about the X-Men movie, that they were too much of a fringe story after the 90's. Characters like this have just as much of a reason to be brought to life with reverence and imagination as Batman or Superman. You can't say that a character's value is absolutely based simply on how many people recognize the name or concept.
And you have to remember, the Thor film isn't intended as a complete standalone. The film is designed to lead into the Avengers. And "Thor" won't be a superhero movie, it will be a fantasy epic like...I don't know something akin to a LOTR movie but not in a trilogy. It could take place entirely off earth. But of course, it appears that Donald Blake shares some aspect of this character... I'm a huge comics fan, and I'm not worried for one reason: Kenneth Brannagh. The man knows his shit. Ever seen "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein"? Great movie, and the reason it was so good was the compelling acting and great direction by Brannagh. And his penchant for the Shakespearean dialectic is well-suited for this project. A lot of naysayers might be pleasantly surprised by how this turns out.
Also please give poor Daredevil a break, i know i didn't enjoy his movie either but he is an amazing and brilliant character who gets so little respect in my opinion. If there are any doubters out there read some of Alan Moore's Daredevil comics. You all should know Alan Moore.
