Bernie Mac Is Starting Under for Fox

Source:  Variety
Bernie Mac is gearing up to star another sitcom for Fox. According to Variety, Bruce Helford is creating this half-hour show tentatively titled Starting Under.

The multicamera series will feature Mac as a large, opinionated man that finds himself divorced and living with his extremely shy son. Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly stated, "I've been a huge Bernie Mac fan forever and felt we needed to bring that star back to TV."

He continued, saying, "Bruce constructed a really clean construction, a solid vehicle for Bernie. And he doesn't have it all riding on Bernie's shoulder. There's a great twist of a father-son relationship there, too. I have to hand it to Bruce -- he nailed it."

The show won't go into production until the writer's strike is resolved.
