John C. Reilly Nabs the Lead Role in Cirque du Freak

John C. Reilly (Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story) is ready to sink his teeth into the lead vampire role in Cirque du Freak for Universal, according to Variety.

Paul Weitz wrote and will direct the adaptation of the bestselling children's series by Darren Shan.

Reilly will play a vampire who drafts a 14-year old to serve as his assistant. The youth is turned into a half-vampire and becomes the catalyst in a battle between vampires and the rival Vampanese.

Production begins in February.

Now if this guy (John C. Reilly) lost some pounds not to be rude than maybe he could pull of a vampire roll but the whole dark thing just does not seem to be this guy. He is supposed to be funny. Josh Hutcherson nabbed the role for Steve in this movie which I can see him somewhat pulling off. And Chris J. Kelly stole the role for Darren Shan which I can also see pulling the role off but not John C. Reilly (Sigh).

What the hell John C. Reilly, the guy off of Taledega Nights to play a skinny red haired vampire, i have got to see this.
