Another day, another truckload of dollars for a blockbuster sequel. According to
Variety,
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen took in a whopping $36.7 million on Friday, which increases its chances of going after the five-day record.
The film now has a three-day cumulative gross of $125.9 million and the film is inching closer to
The Dark Knight's five-day record haul of $203.8 million. Some analysts predict the film's five-day total will end up north of $190 million, while others think it could break
The Dark Knight's record.
eRc Box Office's box office estimates puts the film's weekend take at $115 million, with a five-day total of $205 million.
The film is currently playing in 4,234 theaters across the country, with 169 of those screens in IMAX. Stay tuned as we'll be sure to keep you posted on the Michael Bay sequel's run for the five-day record.

And I heard of Billy Mays. He died at 50 too! Same as Jackson. Weird huh?
BTW, did anyone notice that the government stooge tacitly made Obama look really bad? What's bay trying to say here...
Did you guys hear about Billy Mays? Fucking weird week...
@Vis: You want me too critique the film honestly? Okay, here it is:
Michael Bay seems to think that audiences are too stupid to recognize a hollow movie with lots of shine for what it is. And he's right. The film tries to carry far too many "plot" threads and refuses to fully develop any of them, instead settling for the method of letting them float around through an overly-loud (and distorted), hyper-kinetic (as in motion so chaotic that the human brain cannot honestly comprehend what is happening so instead goes into "drooling ape sees pretty lights mode"), pile of screaming metallic fireworks, loosely tying down the "subplots" in time for a finish that leaves the audience right back where they started, albeit leaving those who tried to treat the film as a film rather than the two+ hours of meaningless eye-candy it was with a headache. It hits a nerve with brash, dim audiences who would rather pay money for something that will drown out the world with sound, fury, and not much else for as long as is possible (but certainly not necessary) while they sit back and stew in their primal juices.
The movie didn't suck. But it was not good. I would put it down as a "bad" film, like, a 3 or 4 on a ten point scale. I'm not attacking the film if I'm saying things that are true.
@The Fallen: That was a universal "Fuck You" to people who say "stop attacking bad movies". It was not meant to offend (strangely), merely to express my feelings towards the stance from some that those who view movies critically should have to give shit like TF2 a free pass because of its "intentions".
Dude... you need to chill out. So you think it sucked, no big deal. We can respect that. But the movie IS fun to watch. It's not a cinematic wonder, but it IS fun.
I've read before that you're aspiring to be a director. Well, that's probably why you hate the movie so much. You're thinking how you would have done this SOOOO much better. Well thats just fine and dandy. Tell us all about it.
And as far as plot goes.... of course it had a plot. A cheesy, flimsy one, but it did have one. One that's easy for the brain. The Fallen wants to find the damn pyramid machine to destroy the sun and inhabit the Earth... and he has to be stopped. How much more simple can you get. Just because its plot isn't so thought provoking like the Dark Knight, doesn't mean it lacks one. Star Trek's was pretty simple too. Revenge by Eric Bana's character. That's simple enough. The only difference is that Star Trek developed their characters better... but other than that, they're both the same fun blockbusting summer flicks. In fact, Star Trek is just as confusing for some viewers as Transformers 2 with the whole "changing of the timeline" shit. I actually had to explain it to some people.
So chill out man. We get that you hated the movie, but others enjoyed it. Bash it all you want while others will praise it for what it is... entertainment.
Now Comrade, if you want a good story with some action and great acting, like kingbrady said, wait and go and see Public Enemies like me. Take care man.
"Transformers 2 was freaking amazing!! It may break the Dark Knight's record....but the Dark Knight was still better!!"
No shit it was better. But they are two completely different movies.
As far as TF2 "sucking," it didn't suck. It wasn't great, but it didn't suck. The biggest problem was the unnecessary crude humor. If they shaved off pretty much all of it(John Turturro's ass cheeks, dogs humping eachother, etc). It had a plot, it was just glazed over with a lot of action sequences. Is that a bad thing? No. I knew what was going on. I enjoyed it. I wasn't expecting to be "wowed."
So, with that said, I think you can chill the fuck out, Comrade. Read my review for further thoughts. In reality, I think you try to be more "critiquing" than you actually are. TF2 is not going to destroy "good cinema." Oscar worthy movies with deep and emotional plots are still going to get made.
first time i saw ROTF i had no idea where the hell Jolt was, saw it the 2nd time and seen him....the movie wasnt great in aspect of a plot or telling us a proper story, they jus threw in these characters (alice) but the action gave us what a blockbuster is known for, thats all i expected from Transformers and thats what i got, Public Enemies will have great acting, good action, good story
it would have to take in 40 million plus for the next 2 days to beat the record, i see it taking probably about 30 mill on one day and probably decreasing to about between the ranges of 25 - 27 million.
"TF:ROTF will be studied by future generations as an example of the apex of a movement of over-flashy, plotless films."
So please, stop attacking it. It was more than decent."
My prior response was also in response to this comment, but I continue, especially in retort to the line "So please, stop attacking it."
No. Fuck you. Too many good movies get attacked my morons with the attention span of a gadfly for me to let this insipid turd slip by unchastised. This movie was an assault on everything good about movies. It thumbs its nose at the idea that you actually need to try to make something decent with a property film. It gives an excuse to shit like Ghost Rider and X-Men 3. I will stop attacking this film when it stops attacking the heart of good cinema like a retarded child sucker-punching a wounded animal.
There was no plot. Anyone who argues otherwise is grasping at straws. Seriously, they could make the next Transformers as though this one didn't happen and no one would know the difference.
And people who argue: "it was for fun" are fucking retarded. Star Trek was fun, and it still had a plot and decently developed characters. When I walk out of the theater and can't remember ANYTHING significant about the movie other than that it was loud and there were lots of explosions (sometimes I had trouble keeping track of why shit was even blowing up), and that represents a failure on the part of the filmmaker. Another good, and veritable quote:
"TF:ROTF will be studied by future generations as an example of the apex of a movement of over-flashy, plotless films."
The film in a nutshell:
There's a power struggle between Duhamel, some other stereotypical army dudes versus a loudmouth bureaucrat stereotype.
Sam and MiKayla's battle over who should say I love you first.
There's a conspiracy Web site battle between Leo (who, given the character development he was, should have been left out entirely) and kooky Agent Simmons
There's a visit to17,000 B.C.
There's a visit to Petra
There's another visit to the Smithsonian to awaken an old British Transformer who walks with a cane.
And there's something about having to climb the pyramids to find the matrix and claim the sun.
Fallen, it was too long, but they didn't even use that time to develop the characters they already had. Instead the spent it doing the big budget version of a kid slamming his toys together on camera for two hours. That's literally all I could see in most of the action sequences.
HOWEVER, the film's one saving grace is that it introduces what could be a very cool concept for a third movie: Humanoid Transformer (the psycho with the tongue)
... and Bomb!!!
So please, stop attacking it. It was more than decent.
And stop comparing TDK to this. Of course TDK is better. this is an action no brainer. So stop going in thinking it's some Pulitzer winning in it. It's made for fun, so enjoy it.
And FYI, the fight scenes were super easy to keep up with. I guess it's older age.
The Fallen: Be my bitch.
Megatron: Michael...
Bay: You had your chance in the last movie.
THIS MOVIE'S DOING SO WELL! :)
IM GLAD ITS NOT COMPLETELY SLIPPING OFF FROM BEING A SUMMER BLOCKBUSTER
