First Official Iron Man 2 Photo!

Source:  USA Today
The first official photo from Iron Man 2 has hit - and in it we see Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark sitting in his workshop, surrounded by a collection of Iron Man suits. The photo comes to us courtesy of USA Today, and is distinctly reminiscent of images of Stark at work in the comics.

Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark

Director Jon Favreau discussed one of the elements that Iron Man 2 will heavily play with, namely the fact that as of the end of the original Iron Man, Tony Stark has no secret identity. "How many superheroes are open about their true identities?" he asks. "We wanted to play with that idea. But it obviously has consequences - in his relationships, on the team. There are a lot of areas we can explore."

Iron Man 2, directed by Jon Favreau, will continue the tale of Tony Stark and his armored alter-ego as he continues his transformation from billionaire industrialist to super-hero. Robert Downey, Jr. will star as Tony Stark, with Paltrow returning in the role of his assistant Pepper Potts. Don Cheadle, Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell, Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson also star. Iron Man 2 blasts into theatres May 7, 2010.

I enjoy watching Don Cheadle, but it just won't be the same Rhodes. Howard was made for that role.

he is pretty old, but they did create the character in his image.i mean if they can make sharon Stone look good at 60 in basic instinct 2 then there is hope hahahahahah

My opion this will be massive .. But i think they could of gone for someone else to play Nick Fury. Samuel L. Jackson is far to old to play the character for the next 5 to 6 years.. If they intend to follow on with other projects which has always been the plan...

They'll go one of two ways with the identity thing
1) They'll grapple with it in a creative and unique way, unlike anything we've ever seen before.
2) They'll write it off as "I WAS Iron Man, now it's a bodyguard," or "The suit is a military application."

I will also mention how great the cast is. I mean, this is such an A-list cast. Anyway, I am looking foward to seeing how character driven it is. The first one was really character driven all thanks to the cockiness and charm that Downey has.

Hes just talking about future problems. The problems that will arise in The Avengers from the public knowing hes Iron Man. Hes talking about the possibilities of what situations they can create with a publicly known superhero. I dont think hes talking about this movie. Not to say we probably wont get some sort of Avengers glimpse in IM2.

It is pretty cool that Stark has a big room with nothing but suits, and I can't wait to see how they will handle the fact that everybody knows that Tony Stark is Iron Man.

it definitely says "on the team", but it doesn't clarify to which or what team it refers.

This photo speaks a lot about how far this movie is going to travel. Love the collection of suits, love Downey's look as Stark, love the heightened technology he's using. Like I said before, don't care what else is coming out next year...THIS IS THE ONE!!!

BTW, I was having lunch in Sherman Oaks last week (for those of you not local, Los Angeles) and spotted Sam Rockwell walking by the restaurant I was in. It was a Sunday so probably a day off from filming. Really wanted to approach and say how much I was looking forward to the movie, but didn't want to seem like a dork. Great to see him though.
