Universal has hired Lasse Hallstrom to direct the adaptation of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.

Todd Komarnicki, will write the script told through the eyes of a 40-year-old Scrooge, says Variety.

No production schedule has been set as of yet for A Christmas Carol.
