J.J. Abrams Discusses Plans for Cloverfield 2

Source:  WonderCon
While attending WonderCon in San Francisco in support of his upcoming franchise rejuvenator Star Trek, J.J. Abrams told the packed house a little bit about his plans for Cloverfield 2. He assured the crowd that he was forging ahead with a follow-up to his low budget monster smash. The director explained:
We're working on an idea right now. We have an idea that we think is pretty cool. The key in making any sort of sequel is that it better not be a business decision. It should be something you are inspired to do. There will be something that is connected to Cloverfield. I hope it happens sooner than later because the idea is pretty sweet.

At this time, Cloverfield 2 does not have a set start date, though it was previously reported that it would be released in 2009. That is highly doubtful at this point.

alright, the first was alright but no one can make the camera view look good ( only diary of the dead cuz it was shaky). if they make the sequal more like a real movie it should be good, but if abrams does the camera look again, hes a douche bag. AND IT CAME FROM SPACE! look hard at the end when the couple are at Coney island, you can see it fall to the ocean.

What is this dumbass JJ. Abrams doing? He just should pick up where the last one left off. It isn't all that clear that the couple died under that bridge. Just have them get a new camera and pick up from there. This sucks. More bad things being done by J.J.

Hopefully it's not another shaky-cam movie. I'm pretty sure they have a bigger budget now too lol.

i think that it should be either after the attacks, and after the bombs, were dropped (on the monster), or from the view point of a soldier.

these so-called 'discussions' need to come to an end, and abruptly.

The first movie's camera style sucked. I hated it. If he does that crap with the sequel I won't watch it. Other than that the movie had major potential. I heard too that the monster from the first movie was a baby, and that the "mother" is still out there in the ocean. I love that idea!

Oh yeah, Pandemic - I have seen you post numerous times about your friends website. Keep it up and Movieweb will remove you. Post the link on your profile if anything, but you have it posted in this thread alone more than once. To me that is spamming, and I am pretty sure Movieweb has kicked people out for it.

i enjoyed the first one, somewhat, at least for the monster portions of the movie. hopefully the second one will focus more on the monster's tale and less about the uninteresting douchebags around whom the monster is fucking shit up.

I thought the whole it's a baby thing was a cool aspect. The mother is probably in the ocean looking for it's baby, the one who was wrecking havoc in NY in the first Cloverfield. Which only means it'd be much much bigger than the baby version lol.

There are not two monsters. On the Blu-ray there is a monster tracking GPS feature that allows you to see where the monster is at every given moment during the movie. There is one monster and the relation to all of his whereabouts are designated in this feature.
