Comparing this to the original SW trilogy is unfair obviously...
*The originals were breakthrough films Unlike Anything at the time, mania ensues. Today, frenzied cg cartoons are the norm.
*The originals were Live Action- no computer can act for crap, thusly, animations have nowhere near as much emotional resonance.
*The SW: Clone Wars film is intended for little kids primarily, a different demographic than the older teen to adult demo. of the original SW movies.
It's an unfair comparison...each project is a different animal, despite your tastes.
There are cartoon spinoffs for other properties that are intended for kids, but, have some appeal to adults who grew up on them. Iron Man has a new spinoff cartoon...there's Batman, Justice League, etc.
SW: Clone Wars is a state of the art CG animation heavy on headspinning action. You've got look at in the context that it is its own thing.
Comparing it to the live action original trilogy is an unfair, apples to oranges comparison.
This 3d-ish 'toon will surely be better than the pitiful SW cartoons of the 80's...remember Droids or Ewoks? It's better not to.
As far as the style, it looks like good, contemporary anime' with 3D.
