Robert Patrick to Appear in 5th Terminator Film?

Source:  Fearnet
Robert PatrickIt seems the director of Terminator Salvation is keen on bringing back a face from the franchise's past. Fearnet reported that Terminator Salvation director McG revealed at WonderCon that he wanted to bring back Robert Patrick, who portrayed the T-1000 in Terminator 2: Judgement Day, back for a fifth Terminator film. Here's what he had to say at WonderCon.

"I talk to Robert Patrick with great regularity. It's interesting - I was [thinking of] a through line. I'll bounce it off of you guys: I like the idea in a prospective next picture that you meet Robert Patrick the way he looks today, and he's a scientist that's working on improving cell replication so we can stay healthier and we can cure juvenile diabetes and all these things that once again sound like good ideas -- and once again live as an idealized expression of ourselves. So imagine seeing a sixty-year-old Robert Patrick and knowing, 'Holy shit! That's gonna be the T-1000 - who comes back perfect, lean and the whole thing.' I haven't concluded that, but Robert and I had dinner the other night and talked about it. I made two movies with Robert Patrick, so I like him very much. And now he's very heavily into motorcycle riding. He's a really serious guy."

Now Fearnet had just spoken to Robert Patrick himself, who revealed he had met with McG about the proposed part. Here's what he had to say to the site.

"Yeah, he talked to me about it," said Patrick. "I'm interested. I was listening to him tell me about it. I had no idea that he thought about that. I love McG. He's a great guy. I've worked with him before, had a great experience working with him both times - I did Charlie's Angels 2 and We Are Marshall. And I certainly can't think of anybody to tackle T4 other than him right now. I think he's got the energy for it and the passion for it. I know he's a fan of the movies. I think he'll do a fantastic job. I'm interested to see what Christian Bale does with John Connor. I'm interested to see the whole setting for that. It's a fantastic franchise, obviously. I mean they've got a television show now, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles...

"But we saw each other and he talked to me about it, so we'll see what happens. The sci-fi genre, and specifically that character, is something I'm very proud of. It's what broke me out big to the world. And it's a character that I've lived with ever since, and I kind of carry it with me everywhere I go, for good or bad. So it's obviously something that's very dear to me and real special to me. That was a real special time. That frachise means a lot to me. All of those people were great people to work with. I love 'em all - Jim Cameron and Arnold and Linda and Eddie. It was a real, real special time in my life."

We'll certainly keep you posted on any other Terminator 5 news as soon as we have more information. McG's Terminator Salvation hits theaters nationwide on May 22.

Its not a remake or a reboot.. Its a continuation. Its just different because it takes place in the future, whereas the others take place "present day". Which is the reason the 1st and 3rd ones are 20 years apart. If they run the movies to or past 2029 it is inevitable the t-101 and t-1000 make appearances as well as the tx if they go to 2032, since that's the time they're sent back from. If they don't the story line will get all mixed up and there'll be mayhem on the streets of LA! But seriously, expect to see the other terminators as well as new ones.

You notice how bad RP's response is in regards to the words he uses? Such as the last 3 or 4 lines of the second response from RP. It's like it was rehearsed or something. Actually, it's worse than that. "he's a great guy. it's very dear to me and real special to me. that was a real special time. that franchise means a lot for me." So unnecesarily repetitive.

Learn from BATMAN. Terminator franchise is going in a completely new direction...why try to salvage the face of a secondary villian from the FORMER series.

let's keep things NEW and FRESH!

I am a big fan of the terminator franchise but I think they should begin to separate themselves from making too many connections with the previous films. I'm really anxious to see them take it in a new direction and introduce new characters. I'm not looking forward to things I will recognize with the prior films. But, that is only a simple opinion. I'm anxious nonetheless to watch Terminator Salvation.
