Chris Moynihan Whipping Up Criss Angel Comedy

Source:  The Hollywood Reporter
Chris Moynihan is working on a pair of projects for NBC, including a comedy based on the life of magician Criss Angel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Angel project is based on an original idea that the Mindfreak magician conceived along with producers Dave Baram, Jason Verona and Adam Shulman. Moynihan has joined in to write the project, which was inspired by Angel's experience as an up-and-coming magician.

All four are aboard to exec produce the half-hour, which was pitched as a workplace comedy set in the world of magic. Baram, Verona and Shulman were all formerly based at the Firm; Shulman is now at Anonymous, while Baram and Verona have moved to Rick Yorn's new company.

Angel rose to fame thanks to his A&E series Criss Angel Mindfreak. At NBC, he previously appeared on the reality show Phenomenon.

Moynihan is also behind 100 Questions for Charlotte Payne, a comedy about a young woman navigating life with friends in New York.

The project begins each week at a dating service, where Charlotte is asked a question that then segues into that episode's storyline. (Hence the "100 Questions" portion of the title -- 100, of course, also repping the magic number of episodes traditionally required for syndication.)

Universal Media Studios is behind both "100 Questions" and the Angel project.
