Molly Ringwald has just signed onto the ABC Family pilot Brenda Hampton. According to Variety, Ringwald will play Anne Nicholson, the mother of a pregnant teen. Shailene Woodley is set to play Ringwald's daughter, while John Schneider will play Dr. Marshall Johnson. Ghostbuster Ernie Hudson is going to play Dr. Ken Fields on the series.

ABC has also picked up the single camera series Roman's Empire from TV writer Al Higgins. The show centers on a young man that dumps his wealthy girlfriend only to find that he can't escape her family or her deranged dad.

Neither project has a set start date for production.
